PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE!!!
Yeah probly not what you wanted to hear... but its the main thing that will bring your skills up. I dont think ive ever really had anyone "teach me" anything. Most of its been pointers or I ask them a question or two and go back home and try it out. If your into skratching deffinently pick up a dmc video... hopefully it will keep you even more modivated and show yeah some little tricks. Watch what other dj's do at your next party. Next time you catch me playing dont hesitate to come and ask what im doing... id be happy to point out some little things ive learned so far. But again It goes back to practicing... you still see big local dj's watching the pro's. Take what you can and go back home and try it yoru self ;) Last edited by Ree Fresh; Sep 20, 04 at 02:25 AM. |

djing is easy to learn
if you're that desperate and no one wants to teach you. definetly go for the rhythm institute.. They'll help you get bookings as well. Plus the gear that they use is great and the room is soundproof (well almost) and speakers everywhere. |

Turn tables aren't like a guitar, they require consistent practice to master beat matching, that's it.
If you want to add amazing skills, like effects, good fades, hi's, low's, and scratching, takes time. Find someone to tutor you. |

i only ever had one lesson, that lasted about 10 minutes.... "this button is for your cue, that means you hear it in your headphones, this slider makes the music on this turntable play on the speakers" and that is my free lesson to you, other then PRACTICE PRACTICE PPRACTICE!! just fuck around for hours... make as many mistakes as you can!!! |
