people who work graveyards

how do you do it?
I did one last night 930- 6am (i need the $ to buy my bro a new computer) and it was lonley and I felt alienated for being up while the rest of the world was sleeping
is there some sort of trick for sleeping in the day?
(i was afraid to drink coffee because I didnt think Id be able to sleep this morning )

i work 9pm-6am every night, and i love it.
you cant just work one or two, it has to be full time so your body and mind can adjust, but once you get used to it, damn.
i like it because it fits the party lifestyle, when everyone's passing out at 4am on friday night im still rocking the case :)

Well, my graveyard is full time so I've gotten used to a perfect reversed sleeping pattern. To help me out, though, I've put tinfoil on my window in my bedroom. I sometimes drink a glass of wine before I hit the sack, too.

As for lonelyness, I don't have to deal with that at all. I work with a crew; minimum half a dozen people in the store at all times. We're kept quite busy working orders to the shelves and prepping the store for another day most of the night.

And I concur with meth0. The reverse sleeping pattern is quite nice for partying. ;)

Working Graveyards isn't too bad, I did it for 3 months straight in Fort Nelson. Five Days a week. For the first Two Months I only slept 3 hours a day so I could go and enjoy the daylight. Then I burnt out and slept from 7:30am to 8:45pm. Long enough to be concious for my Shift.

I work from 10pm-3am part time (mon-wed) and it KILLS... I normally stay over at my girlfriend's for the weekend and when she goes to sleep I have another 4 hours to kill because there is no way I'm going to bed at 11pm-midnight... even worse are the days when I stay over and she works in the morning the next day... I get NO sleep... total sketch...
