FnK Admins - Snyx, Form, Kimmie or Winston
For some reason, I can't post or reply in my own threads that I created in the Events & Promo area. I can see that other people can so why can't I?
Let me know ASAP as I have updates to make. Thanks. |

Kraig, they introduced a new procedure for advertising events where you can only reply to your own thread / have people reply to your thread IF you pay the per monthly fee. You can now only advertise your event for free in the Events Calendar.
Explanation Before Yesterday: You as a promoter could post into the Parties & Promo section a thread which was 'interactive' meaning people could reply to it, and when they clicked on new posts it would show up (if there was a recent reply since their last visit). You as the promoter could reply as well, 'bumping it'. -this has now changed- The new system (Today) -You have to pay a small monthly fee to have an 'interactive' thread to which people can reply to / 'bump' / one that shows up when people click on 'new posts' -Now you can only post your event for free under the 'events calendar' In addition to getting the 'interactive' thread for the small monthly fee, you also get a 200x40 pixel banner on the main board page (which in the past would itself cost like $40 / month) **I believe the small monthly fee is $20 bucks and includes the interactive thread, and small banner. Overall after I understood exactly what the new system ment, I think that the prices are very fair, and the value of the advertising package is great. That's my understanding after talking to Kimmie...so hope that explains it till one of them admins wakes up ;) -Attila Last edited by Evolve; Mar 26, 05 at 01:35 PM. |

I mean, I am all for understanding the business reason behind this but at the same time, the only thing I will be posting in moving forward is the events calendar. With the amount of shows that we throw, $20 each thread on top of our other promotions/banners on sites like CV would break the budget I think. I wish there was some notice of this as I can't even post in the threads I have already started. I think the FnK admins need to put promoters on some sort of seperate mailing list. Whenever there is a major system change such as this, we need to be given some notice period. |

Bavz did post, however that should be corrected now. Notice should have been given, your right. However it has come to the point were more drastic measues where needed to be taken. Comment system has been incorperated into Calendar events, however new postings will not show up on the "New Posts" link. I will update the details as I mod things today. Thank you.

I will be chatting with Cece about this as well.
It would be different if I only had posted info on 1 event... but I have like 7 on the go. Like I said, I understand the change, it just came with absolutely no warning and now you're asking me to pay $20 each thread to have them bumped or interactive? BS bro! Peace. |

You missed the point of what I was saying was BS.
I am not dismissing the increasing costs of the site or disagreeing even with the new format. I've stated that there was no warning at all to us as promoters -- those who you are asking to pay $20+ more EACH THREAD of which I have SEVEN already running. Any company.. fuck even Fido of all companies will send out notices of rate increase, etc. a month or so in advance. |

we can't expect others to swallow the cost of free promotion.
come on. how much money is put out for these parties as well. would an extra $20 per party to the promoters really hurt? i know, money is money, but $20 a month is NOT bad. i know of other sites where just a small banner for your business is $75 maybe they should set up a price per YEAR though, it would be easier for a promoter to buy a certain number of promotional spots that they can use for whatever parties they are doing at the time. |

I don't like what I see coming form this change. It used to be that I could come here and find out about almost anything going on in the city rave, club or otherwise. I fear with this new fee those days are numbered. I hope this fee doesn't discourage many people from letting the hordes of fnkers know about their events. Maybe this is what the events calender will provide for?

First off, I want to thank everyone who has supported us in the past. You've helped keep this site alive and we appreciate it. In regards to the current configuration I can understand the frustration of "sudden change". Nobody enjoys it and it wasn't something we were overly thrilled about. I did however mention this change many months ago when I started a thread called “Add your events to the calendar". Some of you used it and others chose to ignore it. As you can see we have been working on this "idea" for a long time. So it was only a matter of time before it was due.
At the end of the day I don't think it's fair for fnk to pay money out of their own pocket while others flourish from direct promoting via the site. The constant "bumping" of threads 4 months before a show, multiple threads and promoter competition has been increasingly blatant over the last 6 months. Coincidently this is also when support reached an all time low. Why buy the cow when you can milk it for free? Another aspect we took into consideration was all the smaller companies. We realized that $40/Month was probably too steep for a small production so we changed our rates by -50% to accommodate them. $5/week is the best solution we could come up with to encourage "support" for this website. With this you receive a banner. Which is unheard of for $20/month. We have already received many pms & emails from promoters thanking us for the changes. Please note we've also changed our rates on the bigger banners so ask Kimmie for more details. The bottom line is we aren't looking to make a profit from this change. We only want to cover ourselves for the service we provide and continue upgrading the site on a monthly basis. Lastly, we are willing to work with you 100%. If you have "7" events as one member put it. We can easily come up with something that will accommodate you. Banners can be designed to flicker through several events and link to certain pages if needed. We appreciate all your feedback good or bad so please keep this discussion going. Quick replies: Bobby T: You will now have a full featured calendar to find out events quicker and plan out your weekends in style. You can also use a feature called "remind me" which will keep you in check for events you want to attend. Impure: I really appreciate your view on this. I can tell we're on the same page. Kraig: Hopefully that answers your questions or concern about the multiple events. Also ring me later today...we'll chat. Attila: Thanks for your immediate support. Hot Karl: May I forward you the current $600US bill :D? ƒORM |
