Just remember, anything east of downtown sucks (Gloucester, Vanier, Orleans). And don't live beyond the Greenbelt. (IE: Kanata, Stitsville, Orleans, Cumberland).
The "Skytrain" equivilant is called the O-Train, and its pretty useless. Liquor stores are commonly called "LCBO". You can't hail taxis in Ottawa. The bus system is more organized and easier to grasp.

Also, I wouldn't suggest raves, unless you like Hard Techno, Hardcore, Gabber, and Happy Hardcore... The House, Breaks, Prog and soft stuff is in actuall Clubs.
