the hiphop retail database

I am attempting to a compile an expansive list of businesses and organizations related in any manner to hip hop music and culture. This could include everything from clothing stores, record shops, skate shops, hair salons, community programs, magazines, web portals et cetera.

I would greatly appreciate any and all suggestions, no matter how confident you are about whether you think its really representational of hip hop or not, Id rather get as many ideas as possible and then shortlist. Contact info of people who are "in charge" of respective business or organization are an added bonus.

Any information is great, but a name, phone number, web address and general location would be perfect! (Or if there is already a list that sounds like what I’m trying to create, a gentle nudge in that direction would be even better than perfect!)

The general area I’m looking at is basically the greater Vancouver area including Vancouver, Burnaby, Coquitlum, New Westminster, Surrey, Richmond, N/W Vancouver, Langley, Abbotsford, Delta, Mission, Maple Ridge, and Pitt Meadows

Try again mate, the fact that there is a section of this dedicated to hiphop, there have always been hiphop events posted here, and there has always been a good amount of discussion, had me convinced this would be a perfect area to post. Then again, responses would be the best measure, and so far there are none, so....

why not just hit up the local shops in person?

no offence intended, but do you not know the shops in van? or are you out of town?

No offence taken mate. Ive lived in van for 28 years, and know of a few shops/owners that have been around for some time. But Im getting old, and Im not really in any manner of "scene" anymore, I dont waste money on clothes that arent thrift, and I dont bomb anymore either, and so in the effort of hitting up all the fresh blood Im hitting up every and all community forums such as this, in congruence with a live and personal hunt. This is just initial lead building in lieau of some major hitting the streets. Mainly my search is in the areas of Surrey, Langley, Abbotsford, Port Moody, Poco, Coquitlum, Maple Ridge, Pitt Meadows, Delta. I am hitting the shops, forums, freinds, artists and contacts I already have. This forum is just one of many avenues.

ps. if you had the time to ask if I knew about shops (in light of responding to a post that asks the very question) than would it be so hard to list the shops that YOU know of? So far my list is comprised of Dipt, El Kartel, Eastide, ALL the rec shops including Boomtown, scratch, zulu, beatstreet, phat..?(store across from surrey central), and a number of skate shops. Other than that, Im open for suggestions.
