4 New Beats Up

Well my studio wasn't setup for a long time during school n' stuff, but I'm finally rollin again

got all new shit up

MySpace.com - JGFella - Vancouver, CA - Hip Hop / R&B - www.myspace.com/mcgoodfella14

I sorta gave up on vocals, but I'm startin a group with 4 pretty sick cats in Vic so I'll have some good tracks up soon enough.

sap... I checked out your page. They're alright, Rest in Peace was probably the best one out of the bunch. Just a tip: you need better drums and claps though! The ones you're using sound cheap.

thanks for the heads up. hard to say if i'd agree or not, maybe. It's hard when you've made 100+ beats, you tend to always want to use something different to get a new sound.

what do you mean by DAW? I use cubase to sequence and I mostly get my sounds from audionews.ru , I have like 10+ gigs of sample cds from there. I need to get a needle for my rekkid player so I can sample all my vinyl.

I don't bother with VSTs too much anymore.

DAW = Digital Audio Workstation.

nah I just have an old rekkid player. the girl i'm movin in with has a full 1200 setup so I'll probably just use hers and maybe get serato. oh and i just use some miditech board, nothin amazin but it does the trick. i started gettin piano lessons a while back, now I really wish I had a piano.

put another new one up there

this is kinda bad, i was approached by some guys that want like gangster shit and have lots of $ so i'm tryin to do more "rap" beats for them. hopefully that's not sellin out, i figure its just broadening skills.

^ Cool cool,

That rest in peace track some potential to be crazy good

(just my opinion, doesn't mean shit don't do it if you don't want to)

-Replace those "strings" in the beginning with realer sounding samples
-don't change those keys that drop in @ 10 seconds, those are money
-realer sounding drums and claps
-realer "bongo" sample (i dont know what to call that instrument, but the one has the rapid taps in succession)
-change the bassline: make it stronger and add some variation, play around with it, add some funkiness.

With those changes that track could be serious, you could sell it to a big artist. Feel free to add change ups mid-song, add variation in the drums, etc...

I hope i don't sound like a dick, just my honest opinion in that track

no man you don't sound like a dick, it's nice to hear some feedback and listening to people is how you sharpen your skills.

one thing I will say though is myspace makes the drums in particular sound really weak in comparison to the real version. i do agree about the other stuff though. if i can get it soundin better ill post up the edit

yeah that's cool, but you know how artists are you just gotta assume they are sensitive until you know them :)
