I love trip hop
Such a broad genre, I would never give it an exact defenition (as with all genres, but this ones gotta be the hardest).
This type of music was what I got into after the Big Beat explosion. Tricky, Massive Attack, Portishhead, Lamb. All of these artist really expanded my horizons of what music can be. thump666 |

I'm up to 45 different trip-hop groups on my puter. I pretty much dedicate myself to finding new types of electronica/trip-hop. Yes Chris I am the Queen, and I do surpass the king.
Although my collection doesn't even come close to some peeps I’ve been talking to in Europe. But yeah, trip-hop is the shit. It is without my faourite type of music. Yay for trip-hop! |

yeah it's funny that he'd do that cause my name is clearly spelt rhiannA there is no on do you see an on? I didn't think so.
But anyway that's okay. It happens all the time. As far as trip-hop goes it all depends on what kind you like. For example jazzy, more up beat or super down tempo, etc. I like most of it but my favourite is the really dark stuff. But here are some of my faves. Terranove : Plastic Stress - Bombing Bastards - Never - Chase The Blues and Just Enough. Gus Gus : Is Jesus Your Pal - Why - Teenage Sensation and Superhuman Anthea : Don't Explain and Only One Thievery Corporation : Until The Morning - The Mirror Conspiracy and Lebanese Blonde Lovage : To Catch a Thief Anja Garbarek : Stay Tuned Halou : Political Soulstice : Illusion (J Boogie Mix) Any Portishead and Old Tricky & Massive Attack stuff. There are a few anyway. But if you really do like trip-hop you should cheak out http://www.tripnotic.de |

I love trip hop. I was attracted to the genre, without knowing that a name for it existed. I think my :027: started when I was really taken away by Esthero's "That girl"... I knew it was a unique style of music but couldn't come up with a name for it. Only recently (past year) have I started to explore...
Trip hop is definately hard to define, but I love trip hop with female vocals, there's just something right that women can pull of that men can't (for me) and it's got this sexy mysterious jazzy bluesy feel to it.. Something you can definately mellow out to. my current obsession: soultice. Last edited by yoko*; Mar 25, 03 at 12:50 AM. |

Oh i'm so glad someone started this thread!!
Trip hop is absolutely one of my favorite genre's of music, I'm a huge fan! Rhianna I don't think I've ever met you in person, but you have awesome taste in music, I'm also into darker trip hop. Some of my favs: Sneaker Pimps: Six underground, half life, after every party I die, grazes Mono: Life in Mono, slimcea girl, Disney Town Lamb: Gorecki (the drum & bass remix is good too), Gabriel Gus Gus: Dominique, Teenage Sensation, northern lights Anything by Portishead, my favorite song of theirs is "undenied" though Mum ( although some would consider them more electronic): We have a map of the piano Hmm other bands that i'm fond of: Soulstice, Hooverphonic, Sigur Ros (Icelandic group.. gorgeous music), Air, Violet Indiana.. not so trip hop but pretty similar. |

oh yeah, trip hop rules..especially tricky and portishead...tricky's voice is just so dope to listen to when you're chilling, but portishead, sometimes the girls vocals are so trippy that they make me shiver with fright...but thats usually when im on narcotics or coming off of them.
i find that trip hop is the ebst music to listen to on sketchy sundays..especially if you've done drugs the night before, because you're usually tired of that beepity boopity computer music especially after having it blasted in your face for 10 hours, yet you can't listen to anything else because it bothers you so much. trip hop is a sufficient compromise...unless you do a jabber death cap then you're good for another 18 hours of partying hahaha. |

yeah matt, word on shadow creating his own genre of trip hop. many of the tracks he produces are not quite hip hop and not quite breaks so i usually throw him into the trip hop category. he's not the only hip hop dj who creates music that is just as easily trip hop as anything else, for example dj krush alot of his tracks are pretty chill so i fidn myself throwing them on the trip hop mix cd's i make along with some of ming and FS's tracks i found a few of their tracks to be downtempo enuff to go on a sketchy sunday cd.

Hate to say it but I'm one of those people. I just find her voice a little bit...whiney? But I shouldn't talk ESPECIALLY since everyone made fun of my deeper voice when I was growing up. Kids can be so vicious. :P I'm downloading the Oakenfold track right now. Doesn't say that Tricky and Nelly Furtado are in it so I'm crossing my fingers that it's the right version if it's a remix. |

I'm not a huge fan of her but I think she is really good in that track.
I just downloaded Tricky's new CD "Vunerable". I didn't even know it was out. It's pretty good. Don't get me wrong it's no where near as good as maxinquaye but it's the best he's come out w/ in a long time. "Stay" is my fave track on it so far. |

I downloaded a track but I think the user on Kazaa mislabelled it cause it definitely wasn't Nelly Furtado/Tricky...it wasn't even trip hop, or electronica for that matter.
Anyone wanna send it to me? Add me on MSN - [email protected] or on ICQ - 168789513 Thanks! |
