Scratch: All the Way Live (sequel to Scratch the movie)

SCRATCH: ALL THE WAY LIVE’ SET FOR RELEASE APRIL 19 - Live concert film directed by Doug PRAY featuring live performances by Mix Master Mike, Z-Trip, THE X-ecutioners and the Original DJ Jazzy Jay, along with live art installation by Obey Giant creator Shepard Fairey - SCREENINGS CONFIRMED AT SXSW AND WMC

From the producers of the acclaimed turntable film Scratch – The Movie comes SCRATCH: ALL THE WAY LIVE, a new DVD set for commercial release April 19 on Scratch Recordings. Directed by Doug Pray (Hype!, Scratch–The Movie), this live concert film highlights a night from the last national Scratch Tour during a stop at Los Angeles’ House of Blues. Filmed on 24p cameras and multi-track recorded for 5.1 Dolby Surround Sound, SCRATCH: ALL THE WAY LIVE features explosive performances by Mix Master Mike, Z-Trip, the X-ecutioners and the Original DJ Jazzy Jay, plus Obey Giant creator Shepard Fairey in urban art engagement as he creates a Gene Simmons (KISS) inspired mural on stage.

Fans will be able to view SCRATCH: ALL THE WAY LIVE prior to release date at two high-profile screenings: SXSW during both the film and music portions March 15 & 18 and at Gomi in Austin also on March 18 with a performance from Z-Trip and the Winter Music Conference in Miami March 23 at Mix Masters, the Premier Artists Group showcase at Sony Ice Palace Studios with Z-Trip, QBert, X-ecutioners and more performing (www.wmcshowcase.com).

Bonus features on SCRATCH: ALL THE WAY LIVE include: a ‘how to’ session with Shepard Fairey illuminating the way he creates his posters and uses wheat paste to plaster them in urban surroundings; a commentary track with Z-Trip, director Doug Pray and the Scratch Tour producers; a live jam session from Philadelphia’s TLA show with Qbert, Scratch from The Roots, Z-Trip, X-ecutioners and the Original DJ Jazzy Jay; the animated trailer for the Mix Master Mike album Bangzilla (Scratch Recordings), gallery of graffiti pieces created by artists on the Scratch Tour; and the Scratch: All The Way Live original theatrical trailer.

The Scratch Tour was established in 2002 to promote the release of the feature-length highly acclaimed hip-hop documentary Scratch. That year it played in 15 major markets in America selling out 1500-capacity venues and went on to expand into Japan, Australia and New Zealand, establishing itself as the only international hip-hop festival tour. A rotating line-up of turntable masters who have participated in the tour from 2002 until now include Qbert, Mix Master Mike, the X-ecutioners, Z-Trip, DJ Swamp, DJ Craze and The Original DJ Jazzy, along with local DJs and guest stars such as the Roots’ Black Thought and Scratch, The Beat Junkies, Faust & Shortee, Jazzy Jeff, MC’s Talib Kweli and Supernatural, beat-boxer Rahzel, The Rock Steady crew and graffiti artists Shepard Fairey and Doze.

The next North American Scratch Tour is currently being planned for spring 2005 and will feature artists from the Scratch Recordings label as well as other world famous DJs. Through a recent deal with Dolby, the Scratch Tour will also be the first club tour to ever be presented in 5.1 Surround Sound.
