Heheh, BASECK is still the shit as far as experimental electronix / turntablists go. Within hardcore, i think its cool when dj's from obvious hip-hop/battle backgrounds like Baseck, or MarkN from BloodyFist Recs, etc. take on breakcore, hip-hop, or gabber, creating really subversive blends, and defining that "turntablist' thang in other ways. In a way, that's kinda what its about, right?
And in more ways than one, for peeps who've never listened to "hardcore' or extreme electronix, to hear a dj that might have the same roots as them through hip-hop applying that to extreme beats is kinda a way of saying that hip-hop can move anywhere. Baseck's whole approach is to provide a visual hand's on connection to a scene where most performers carry a laptop, ya know? He does it all with his hands, no starbuck's jam sessions here. Keepin it real. I'm down. BASECK never made past customs last Friday.. but the show still went well, IMMINENT rocked! Viva la subversion! Last edited by **TORMENT**; Apr 26, 05 at 11:28 PM. |
