Ibiza Costs, Information and tips
Planning a trip to Ibiza
One of the first things to think about when planning a trip to Ibiza is how much funds you’ll need to have in your pocket in order to survive. Spain has completely switched over to the euro from pesetas; therefore, the common choice of currency on the island is either euros, the UK pound or US dollars. Pulling out Canadian currency is only a waste of time and many vendors and clubs will laugh at you. The euro is almost exact to the US dollar so you could almost compare the prices to a US destination. Getting started: First thing you’ll need to do obviously is find the cheapest flight you can. Booking in advance should save you some money. There are several routes to Ibiza and each cost is different. I’ve listed a few routes and websites that should give you some ideas. Travel time to Ibiza is about 14 hours in-flight not including stopovers. Route 1: Vancouver-Toronto-Madrid-Ibiza (Air Canada & Span air) Route 2: Vancouver-London-Ibiza (Air Canada & Various airlines) Websites for flights: www.holidays-in-ibiza.co.uk www.go-fly.com www.bmi-baby.com www.holiday.co.uk www.flightline.co.uk www.cheap-flights-to-spain.co.uk www.go-nowtravel.com The second thing you’ll need to focus in on is a cheap hotel. There are many grades of hotels and some will be much cheaper than others. I suggest sharing a room with someone. This will cut your costs by 50%. A few examples of hotels: Ocean Drive: http://www.oceandrive.de 169 Euro/Night = $255 CDN San Antonio hotel we saw: double occupancy 120 Euro/night = $180 CDN Email Of hotels: Main Website http://www.fiesta-hotels.com Fiesta Hotel y club dontoni: 3 star – Eivissa Town [email protected] Fiesta Hotel y club Playa d’en Bossa: 3 star – Eivissa Town [email protected] Fiesta Hotel y Aptos. Palmyra: 3 star – [email protected] Fiesta Apartamentos Cap Nono: 3 star – [email protected] Food and shopping: Eating in Ibiza can be inexpensive if you play your cards right. Most little spots aren’t too expensive but if you shop around you can save anywhere from 3-4 Euro per dish. Many places cater to the Brits so you’ll notice a lot of menu items come with fries or chips. Grocery shopping is highly recommended, as it will save you a ton on snacks, beer and hard liquor. A 26 oz bottle of vodka is about 11 euro-$16 CDN. Hamburger & Fries – 3 Euro - $4.50 CDN Cervesa 1.50 Euro - $2.27 CDN Piece of Pizza – 2 Euro - $3 CDN Bacon Eggs Toast Chips – 4.50 Euro- $6 CDN Pop (coca) & Single Beer .50 Euro, .80 euro $.75 to $1.50 Casa Thai– San Antonio) 9 euro ($13 CDN) for Beer, appetizer, main dish and dessert PK2 – place near Ibiza Town & Pacha – 3 Euro ($4.50CDN) for chicken sandwich Leonardo’s: Ibiza Town – 5 euro ($7.50 CDN) for spaghetti with bread Clubs: This is what will kill your pocket books if you don’t cut out the little coupons in the local flyers or hunt down the discount ticket vendors. Most vendors and coupons will save you anywhere from 5-25 euro ($7-$37) Pacha- “any given night” – 50 euro ($75 CDN) Privilege – 40 Euro ($60 CDN) Space – 10 Euro Daytime Bracelet or 35 at the door ($15 & $52) Amnesia- 50 Euro or 35 Euro with Coupon ($75 & $52) Driving in Ibiza: Not only is driving in Ibiza dangerous it’s also a city that believes in having almost no stop signs or traffic lights. Most areas consist of roundabouts with several yield signs surrounding every entrance. One must be fairly alert in order to keep ahead of the locals. Car/Moped Rentals or Taxi: * 700 EURO deductible if you f**k it up 29 Euro/day ($43 CDN) – scooter 59 Euro/day ($89 CDN) – small car 112 Euro/day ($169 CDN) – convertible *Taxi is about 10-20 euro to most clubs and airport Quick summary: Flight - $1400 - $1700 Hotel $1000 Food & Clubs $1000 $3500 for a very decent holiday If you have any more questions please feel free to ask here….
