I've been thinking about goin to school for fashion aswell, Blanche Macdonald is a reputable school, However i've heard that VCC has a great program aswell and im sure its not nearly as expensive. I would also check out John Casablancas I have heard its a pretty good school as well.

Dalyn.
Take it from me. Don't go to Blanche Macdonald. A school that tries to trick you into their "last spot" is horrible. I took make up there, and they may have the best facilities, but they don't have the best programs. If Emily Carr has a program, go there. Blanche is over-priced and over-acknowledged. |

once you acquire things like a house and a car, it makes it hard to leave. besides, who wouldn't want the opportunity of studying abroad. |

I was gonna go to school for fashion design.. I was pretty serious about it to. Got a scholarship and everything. Don't study Fashion unless it is your absolute PASSION. Whatever school you go to will expect you to devote your entire existance to it.
I was gonna go to Ryerson which in my opinion is the school I would recommend you to try for.. Ryerson and Kwantlen in Richmond are the only schools in Canada that grant a Degree in fashion design. My girl friend is there right now and loves it, but admits she has no time for anything else. Ryerson even has a huge fashion show where major televion stations prodcast in and everything.. Also If you want to obtain a job in the fashion industry, it is thriving way more back east. Vancouver is a more laid back market compared to Toronto, Ottawa, and Montreal. I really think most people who are serious end up going east. which blows. I really feel that alot of schools for fashion design are mainly businesses, giving a mediocre fashion design experience for a shitload of money. I dont feel too good about blanch, or john casablancas, and possibly even the art institute. They are too easy to get into. Go for the schools that are hard to get into, that require a portfolio and knowledge. the harder the school is to get into the better.. Going to England would be an insane place to study fashion.. English schools charge 30 Gs a year for international students tho..maybe look into if there is an american school based in England. Anyways best of luck Dalyn...I would wear argile in support of you.. Really think hard about what your going to do.. If I was you I would definately go to school..Why wouldn't you if you have Native status??... Make sure fashion is what you want to study...Its not as glamerous as it seeem..lots of sweat, blood and tears... |
