Virgin Festival @ Thunderbird Stadium (2 days)
VIRGIN FESTIVAL (2 DAYS)
THUNDERBIRD STADIUM May.20 & May.21 2007 GENERAL ON SALE: Saturday, Feb. 3 @ 10am for $39.93 + $1 Virgin Unite + $2.25 Facility fee MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE The title, The Black Parade, is the name of the quintet's alter ego on their new record, explains lead singer Gerard Way. "This was a really difficult album for us to make," he says. "And there was a certain point where it was so dark for us that it felt like we really needed to become much more than brothers - we needed to become a new band." The phrase also refers to the basic premise of the record - an epic, theatrical concept album about mortality. BILLY TALENT Appearances can be deceiving. By all accounts, Billy Talent is a young band who just released their second album. Hell, it’s even called II. But like most stories worth hearing, the best part often lies beneath the surface. RISE AGAINST Anyone that knows Rise Against is aware that the Chicago-based band is anything but a single-minded musical outfit. An astounding fusion of unhinged power, ear-grasping melodies, stimulating lyrics and the ability to reach audiences in both underground and mainstream circles, they have redefined punk rock's rules throughout its successful career through a variety of compositions. In fact, the act's prolific songwriting and captivating shows on stages both at home and abroad over the past six years have yielded career sales of over a half-million albums. THE KILLERS Last November – after performing more than four-hundred gigs, and selling more that five million copies of their blockbuster debut, Hot Fuss – the Killers thought they'd take a well-deserved break. "We were going to take a few months off and have fun in the sun," says singer Brandon Flowers. But just two weeks after they got home to Las Vegas, the Killers were back at it, breaking ground on their follow-up masterpiece, Sam's Town. AFI "I flee to decemberunderground. As you exhale, I breathe in the water underground and I'll grow pale without you"-"The Interview," AFI "DECEMBERUNDERGROUND is a time and a place. It is where the cold can huddle together in darkness and isolation. It is a community of those detached and disillusioned who flee to love, like winter, in the recesses below the rest of the world."-Davey Havok HOT HOT HEAT Twelve new originals from Hot Hot Heat, one of the most acclaimed young bands in modern music, Elevator is the follow-up to 2002's Make Up The Breakdown. It's also the result of over two years of virtually non-stop international touring that earned the Vancouver-based band a fervent worldwide following. METRIC Metric's 2003 debut, OLD WORLD UNDERGROUND, WHERE ARE YOU NOW?, was a statement of both resignation and resurrection: when the underground you once romanticized has given way to pre-fab Rebellion, grab a shovel and start digging your own subterranean sanctuary. But spend enough time down and out of sight and you start feeling the need to come up for air. And when Metric did just that after a year of ceaseless, club-by-club conversions, they were confronted with a strangely beautiful sight: a crowd of people looking right back at them. and more!!! http://virginfestival.ca/ Last edited by Pennywise; Feb 10, 07 at 04:22 PM. |

Finally!!! A band worth going to see!!
MUSE has been dropped from day 1 and will be replaced by non-other than.... RISE AGAINST!! Armed with the fury of classic punk acts as Minor Threat and Bad Brains, blended with intelligent vocals and a serious commitment to providing a positive alternative to the oft-dreary and disenchanted aura that engulfs most punk bands, Chicago’s Rise Against might be seen as an outcast amongst its peers. |
