Does anyone ever head out to nights at the Cobalt, Brickyard or Rockabilly Round-up?
I don't feel safe alone downtown, late, especially while drinking etc. And it would obviously be much more interesting if I had someone to go with, but I can't think of anyone that would be really interested. So yah... anyone?
I also haven't been to any of them yet so it would be nice to know what to expect. |

jenna do you mean the brick yard, or the brick house? The one on terminal they used to have the dnb night zwack, but the other one, is right around the corner from the burobon, i went there one time and it was intense, carzy heavy metal, ahaha! I always get the 2 names mixed up though.

Ahhh, you've come to the right place - being the skid that i am (and apparently the only real skid on this entire forum) i've been to and would like to get back to all of these places.
The Brickyard is really just a bar in a very bad area of town, sometimes they have good music, sometimes they don't - and i have to say i hate payin $5 to see a shitty band... but the Cobalt... ahh the Cobalt... Vancouver's "Hardcore" bar as they like to call themselves - always something interesting going on at least. I remember one time a guy I was with didn't want his beer anymore and just threw it over his shoulder at the wall, nobody even blinked let alone noticed (don't worry, nobody got hurt)... good rowdy times. I'm not familiar with this "Rockabily Round-up" you speak of though - although i am familiar with the Ivanhoe or Funky Winkerbeans I'm gonna be putting together a "Scrub" Crawl soon, it will probably involve a few of these places so watch for it. |

Greg I meant the brickyard. Actually one of the biggest reasons I was interested in it was because a girl I know was performing with her burlesque troupe there, and I found there website and discovered that they have music there too.
pbreak- I forgot to mention that the rockabilly round-up was at the marine club, something like every first sat. of the month. Anyways, I'm deffinately down with a "scrub" crawl haha. And thanks for the info/advice |

but yah here are my thoughts so far:
start at the cambie, mosy on down to Funky Winkerbeans, possibly a stop at the brickyard? and then finish it all off at the Cobalt of course - of yah, and maybe the Astoria? or is that just a little too skid. Man, i wish the mighty niagara was still open... |
