Island parties are great. The vibe isn't as good as it was say back in 99-00... but where is the vibe as good as it was then? I will agree with the comment that the island is stuck a few years behind... as too many people still play funky/disco house and speed garage... and that ain't my thing and my main reason of coming over to vancouver for my trance and techno fixes... but thankfuly we've got in to D'n'B quite a bit reciantly too.
SSBB2 will be a tight party (i'll be at insominia with fliers if interested)... can't wait for it... will be lots of fun. But I agree also with the comment that outdoor parties on the island are the bomb! And that mill bay venue (even with one real bad mushy trip there in my experiances) it is an amazing venue and I hope were able to use it once again... but that is pending. Good news is that Eagles Hall in Duncan (our classic venue, until shut down NYE 02 becuse of car vandels) is re admiting parties... which is super cool... was a very nice venue... and well located between the 2 major cities. Anyway... if you havn't been to the island for a party... be sure to check one out (SSBB 2 or SIP 4.5 in the near future for tight indoor events). And if you want an outdoor multi-day event wait for info on Island Style 5 (to be confirmed if 1 day or multi day) or Soundwave (kinda underground beach party... minimal info released... but great times had) as they'll rock your world. Last year Island Style 4 was 3 stages for 2 nights and on beautiful beaches in secluded Port Renfrew (one hell of a drive out there...and crap weather... but still very nice venue).

Outdoor parties are definatly the Island's forte.
And Island Styles 5 will be a little earlier in the year this time around (from what I hear) so crappy weather hopefully won't be an issue. I REALLY hope that PIE comes back to do another Summer Knights party.... they always fucking rock.

I must say i feel pretty lucky living on the island and getting to attend the good vibe here and such at the outdoor parties. But the indoors aren't all bad! It's just cause there's been a lack of venues for the past year or so...and now we've got Eagles Hall back!
Seriously, i still haven't been to an indoor party and had a better time than at Unity 2002 (last party at eagles) If you REALLY want to experience something refreshing go to one of the gulf island parties. I'm not sure if there will be another Lotus Land this year, but it was a free party on Galiano that rocked! Be warned there will be many hippies though.  And Phil...watch your mouth about my funky house, or else i'm a break your knees! j/k hun ~oreo ;p

Island parties rock. Super chill. Good vibe. Noticable absence of uber high people lying around in circles on the dance floor. we tend to have more hippies around, and people dont dress up as much... outdoor parties are the best thing about the island. they are usu. on the beach or close too it, and when the sun comes up in the morning you feel good to be alive.

Theres nothin compared to partying with mother nature!
Space is unlimited and the music can be hear for miles... I went to wired last semptember, definitly an experiance. :trippin: When your trippin rain drops are quite comforting :trippin: Hahah kay maybe i'm just an island hippy but i love the outdoors

That kind of reminds me of apex mountain project. Though when I went there it was sunny. Good things CAN happen out in the boonies alla chilliwack and hope, yikes!
