I'm actually just going to be removing roofing - probably - for my landlady. This is dependant on the quote that I give her.
Two things I need to know: 1- What would you charge hourly or per sq/ft for removal labour. 2- (long shot) how many cubic yards of container would I need for around 1900 sq/ft of composition shingles (I think that's what they're called) Cheers! |

Removing shingles can be a bitch job... but if you get yourself a good pitchfork and flat shovel you can use the two of them to pry it up fairly easily. It's still a lot of work though. I can't really say how much to charge as it really depends on how much cash you want to make.
I used to charge $16/hr under the table to do these sorts of jobs and was still a lot less than what a roofer would charge. If had employees I'd add on their hourly wage plus a buck or two, that's the cost of doing business. If you're planning on doing this on your own allow yourself a few days.... I'd advise you to hire some cheap labour! As for the bin.... thats a fair amount of shingle and you'de need a fair size container for it too. Most disposal companies have a standard size container that they use. If you're semi-careful about how you stack the debris in the container a standard one should do you fine. If you just chuck it in and have a lot of wasted space I advise you do the 'jump and flatten' every once in a while to maximize what you can get in there! |

Usually a 4 man crew can get a roof doen in a day, maybe day and a half. It all depends on how hard your guys work. If they're lazy it'll take longer.
As well, if there's all sorts of tucked away peaks and valleys, those take a little more time to clean up. START TODAY |
