the Arch, now called Gecko Club, is on... uh... I wanna say Richards but I'm pretty sure it's not...... It's up the street next to Pigeon Park (the one that's not Cambie that dead-ends on the Amsterdam Cafe) just off Pender. Looks like a giant Sobe symbol on the window.
Saturday Nights are also good for The Affair, which used to be at the Marble Arch but now are at that bar at the Vancouver Public Library downtown. Crowd's okay but the music's always killer (Trevor Risk = currently one of the best DJ's in Vancouver, IMO). |

Well I'll be damned. So much for that idea, Jake. I highly recommend checking this night out before it's gone (7 years running!).. if I was in town I'd mos def be heading down on June 10th to see them go out with a bang. Vernon does a much better job of describing his night than I did, btw. |

My first memory of the Affair (and I do say "memory", non-plural, intentionally) is my birthday last year... after Fetish Lite a bunch of us hit up The Affair for more boozin'. I recall The Faint being played, which has its own subtle ironies.
My second memory of the Affair (note again, the use of the singular) was the first night I moved back to Vancouver and was staying in a hotel room that my company put me up in for a few weeks. Farshad was over within three hours of me checking in with a 26er of Smirnoff. I remember us polishing that off before we hit the town and little else of that night. I remember the Arch briefly, I heard we were at the redroom, and I recall bumping into Jess, Myra and you, Dave, at Spanish Banks later on in the evening. I recall little else of the evening. What a "Welcome Home". =) |
