Quitting smoking log

Smoked a pack a day for 2 years... Quitting cold turkey

Day 1. Friends smoking made me want to smoke like crazy, so i went and hung out with my gf who doesn't smoke to have less temptation... Not even a puff today.. w00t

Day 2. Very grumpy... came very close to having a few puffs of my friends smoke but didn't... will power FTW

I was able to eat a massive meal, and then get back in my car and listen to good music while my friend had his aftermeal ciggy in my car while i was driving to good tunes... without being tempted to smoke... and nothing beats having a smoke after a nice big meal... or when listening to awesome music... :)

except after sex smoke...

either way.... if i can handle those... then you telling me you just had one wont do shit :cheesy:


however.. i have been grumpy as fuck today, and very edgy... like an emotional roller coaster.. i wonder if smoking can affect you that much after smoking a pack a day for 2 years.... pretty crazy

^ It sure can one time I didn't smoke for 3 days because I wanted to quit and I was so edgy at work i slammed the till shut at was like FUCK. and my co worker was like GET THE FUCK outside and have a cigarrette and i was like OKAY!

I havent been smoking a pack a day but I have been smoking since i was 11. So, 9 years, soon to be 10 in about to week.









Oh my god. :( I need to quit soon, its kind of scary thinking ive been smoking for almost a decade.

I quit cold turkey once before, and stopped for 1.5 years... Started again when me and my gf split up because i enjoyed how smoking helped me relax.. but now it's just a waste of money..

I spend about 400 a month on smokes... (cause i smoke cigs that cost a bit more but taste better to me)

I think i'm going to put 400/month aside and pool up the money i would have spent on smoking and buy somethin cool... or maybe just take that 400/month and put it directly into some kind of investment...

this is actually kinda fun

I think the first idea is a good one, it can be like a reward.

I spend 80 a month on export a, soo.. 960 a year.

Just to kill myself in the end.

I give it 3 more weeks.

But good luck. I haven't quit, but I've cut down alot, from a pack a day to only smoking when I'm smoking pot or drinking.

The more time goes by, the easier it gets... so i don't know why you said 3 weeks...

at the 3 point mark, I will most likely not let anybody smoke in my car and absolutely hate the smell of smoke.... or think it smells like shit when people have a smoke and then come near me.... I know this because that's how it was when i quit for 1.5 years before...

Have you heard about the book that helps you quit smoking?
My friend read it and it worked...
basically you are allowed to smoke during the whole book and it kindof phases the smoking out whilst your reading it and then by the end you don't need one...
Can't remember the name but definetely check it out

donkey - it takes 1 week to create an addiction, and 3 weeks to break it, after that three weeks is up, the chemical addiction is gone from your body. the mental addiction is one that sticks around for a while.

good luck - i think you can do it.

Don't need the book, but thanks for the suggestion :) Will-power is all it takes...


Right now i'm not even craving a smoke in the slightest... I just got out of the shower, so i'm concentrating on enjoying the fresh out of shower feeling you have... that usually gets destroyed the moment you have a smoke...

Early day 3, and so far so good... w00t

Day 3 over.... Was easy as fuck till tonight..

Didn't feel like a smoke even once the entire night, till around 11pm when i got into a huge fucking arguement with someone.. the kind of arguement where you pace back and forth you're so mad and don't even know what to do..

took some fucking extreme willpower not to smoke..

maybe chewing some gum would help whenever i have a craving

ha ha ha. the force is on your side young one.

ive just realized how addictive those little cigarettes are. in the last month or 2 somehow I've gone from 1/4 pack a day to a 1/2 pack a day. before that my smoking habbits were pretty loose....

I HAVE THE FEAR!!!!!!

day 4 over....

had hotpot in richmond at like 12am.. and for some reason i was craving smoking hardcore.. even WHILE eating.... and my friend had a smoke in the car while i was driving him home... he didn't just do it, i told him he could.. I know he didn't light up a smoke because he didn't want me to crave it... but i know how enjoyable a smoke is after a meal, so i told him to just light one up..

was wanting to smoke... so i just ate some hardcore fucking gum that made my eyes water.. haha

Good luck man. I have never been a smoker, but I saw the battle my parents went through to stop so I can at least understand the addiction.

actually this is day 7 and i havn't even had 1 smoke yet..

the temptation is barely there anymore... I just carry around strong ass gum and whenever i get the urge, i chew a piece of gum... replacing 1 habit with another...

since the day i stopped smoking, i have had people around me smoking every day... pretty much every hour, there was someone smoking around me.. cause 90% of my friends smoke...

All it takes is willpower...

before i WANTED to smoke, cause i enjoyed it.... so i smoked.. now i don't want to smoke anymore, so i stopped cold turkey... amazing what you can do when you put your mind to it :)
