does anybody got any coping techniques theyd like to share? I think im having a quarter life crisis, hahaha, what the fuck? |

mmmm ativan.
I agree, regular exercise does a lot of good. Yoga is excellent for a lot of things, but particularly effective in alleviating anxiety and insomnia in my own experience. Try to get a good workout at least three times a week. You might also want to look at your diet- eating a lot of refined/sugary foods and consuming a lot of caffiene/nicotine/alcohol can contribute to the problem. These are methods I've found particularly helpful when anxiety is related to something that is situational. Sometimes things like anxiety and depression can surface themselves as symptoms of another problem in your body (ie anemia) it's good to see your family dr to have them run a few tests to make sure that isn't the case. You might also want to get referred to a psychiatrist. |

Diaphragm breathing helps somewhat and physical activity. Having a better understanding of anxiety has helped me a lot with the length of the attacks when I do get them.
Also try cut caffeine down or completely out of your diet, and in general maintain a healthier diet. |

Yeh don't go for ativan because then you'll just want klonos. Anxiety is not a fun thing. Really the only thing that helps is what everyone has said and staying away from binge drinking and lots of caffeine. You just need to funnel all that energy somewhere by leading a healthy lifestyle and it should dissipate.

Excercise and EAT PROPERLY!
Never indulge in sugar or caffeine on an empty stomach. This was my problem years ago when I would go long periods of time with out food (too stressed/busy) I was so low on energy that I was most attracted to foods high in sugar or caffeine. It was a recipe for anxiety disaster. Now I eat 5-7 times a day. Maybe 1 or 2 are full meals and the rest are small snacks mainly based from either whole grains, fruit, vegetables, and small amounts of protein. Keep your choice of food low or nil in sugar, caffeine, chocolate, and bad fats. Nuts imo are one of the best quick food boosters you could have and wont send you on an anxiety ride. |

things that help me when i get panic attacks/anxiety gets bad:
- getting more sleep - meditation - writing (or other artistic endeavors) - being more active. or at least going outside more; even a walk around the block in the fresh air can do so much good - pushing myself to do the scary stuff anyway personally i think that if you can do it without drugs than it's better. i've taken ativan and such, but really, i would rather solve the problem mentally than opt for a purely physical, chemical solution. usually anxiety/panic attacks are a result of something mentally blocking you, so if you can work that out then it's okay. at least from my experience. |

its in my A type, overachieving personality to be prone to anxiety, so it would be very difficult for me to change that. part of the reason this bothers me so much is because theres no real reason for it. theres nothing specific that bothers me i just feel jacked up all the time. |

That's not really what I meant.
Sorry, I was too lazy to go and find the thread to link it or to explain myself. I was just throwing it out there since so many of us on this board have experience with panic/anxiety disorders and there is research out there that links them to ecstasy use, which doesn't necessarily have to be recent. You know how a thought just occurs to you through association sometimes? It wasn't meant to be accusing. :oh: |

it's not an easy thing to get rid of, and i don't think you ever fully get rid of it, but you can learn to control it. the stuff we have to do is never the easy stuff to do. |
