The symptoms vary from person to person, as does the severity. For some it can be sweating, increased heart rate, dizziness, nausea, shortness of breath, hot/cold flashes, chest pains, and my personal fav an irregular heart beat.
Having your very first one and having it be a full blown attack (not knowing what the hell is happening to you), is probably one of the more terrifying things one could experience. As they are usually accompanied by thoughts of death or illness and feelings of clausterphobia etc. As to what they are, it could probably be described as your bodies fight or flight reaction kicking into over drive usually due to high levels of stress or at times for no apparent reason at all. From personal experience I would have to agree with ff. It is like being on E but having a really bad trip. Last edited by crackdragon; May 17, 04 at 02:56 AM. |

Time stands still and you begin to lose any real control of how you're reacting to what is happening. Take something that may regularly stress you out, like sleeping in a little bit- that feeling can pretty much be a pin prick compared to how a panick attack may make you feel. You'll know you've had one especially if afterwards you feel like you've just ran a marathon and you're just completely exhausted.
Thankfully I haven't had one for about two years. More info can be found here http://www.bchealthguide.org/kbase/t...96/descrip.htm If you begin to have these regularily, talk to your dr! |
