after puberty, we're all biologically ready to do the deed. When i was 14, I had 36C boobs, a steady, huge boyfriend (also 14) who scared the shit out of my parents - i had made out, and was deep in the midst of sexual discovery with my first love and i took it all very seriously I may not be the same as everyone - but that doesn't mean that sexual discovery at a young age is always a bad thing my body was grown up - and that's the same for some guys at that age too (although 13-16 is when a lot of young men go through some harsh changes) women tend to go through them earlier.. Although to look back, 14 years old is YOUNG at the time i felt old :) |

Everyone is always talking about bodies being ready. Does that really matter if you're not emotionaly ready for sex? Or mature enough to deal what comes w/ sex? I don't think a lot of 14 year olds know what they are getting into. |

drugs, sex, booze we fill them with it in our media and then we preach to them in school - ignore those cool lifestyles you see on screen you can be cool like your PE teacher if you just abstain from it all of course they don't know what they are getting into, and some of them will proceed with caution and others will throw caution to the wind - thats where education and communication become so important, so a child can make an informed choice about what they want to do, but it is their choice, like it or no. Grade 9 and you didn't have huge guys? we sure did, and as i watched my baby bro grow up all his pals were monsters by about 15... emotionally some of us might never be ready for sex I dont regret losing my virginity when i did, thats not to say i was totally ready for what came after - but i did things in a caring relationship with a guy i loved and honestly i wouldn't take any of it back to delay it for later |

Talking to a lot of girls I knew when I was younger. They didn't have sex because they wanted to. They had sex because they were one of few left in their group of friends that hadn't had it yet. Now that sucks. Especialy when you forget to notice your friends are in a loving realstionship and you go for whatever guy comes a long first. And Jingles, I'm not saying they shouldn't have sex or that it's wrong. It just makes me sad to see some people go into it knowing nothing at all. I totally agree w/ you that education on sex is key. |

i don't know - i guess i have never been a 'virginity is sacred' kind of chick to me getting rid of it was like getting a first period or first day of highschool, it was a right of passage sex to me hasn't always been about love exclusively So while i say i explored my sexuality in a loving relationship, i did, but - i didn't lose my virginity that way. Nope i ended up too stoned one night while babysitting and he asked if i wanted to and I said 'why not' and it was done I had sex because i wanted to - but the first time was nothing special and to be honest i saw my virginity as a hinderance at the time .. my friends would ask me about it and i hadn't had it..so it was almost like a misison to get rid of it- i was happy to get rid of it. I know that i am different, and that many young women do feel pressured to lose it before they feel ready to most de virginizing stories are not pleasant ones - people werent sure what they were doing, lots didn't enjoy it, i rarely hear about the perfect 'def lowering' but to me, thats the nature of sex..its not some perfect act But that's why we agree education is the key - even though we can only educate so much - some things just have to be experienced |

I find it kinda funny that the poll only went up to 20 people cos I know gay men that have slept with hundreds of men in their lives and their still in their 20's.
Sex is what you make of it and I think it is absolutely wrong to automaticly link it with morality and emotion. It is so different things for different people. I have had partners that were so cought up in the whole "intimicy" of the act and how fucking "special" it was that they couldn't relax and truely enjoy the experience. I am not into going out and screwing anything just to get my load off but at the same time I am certainly open to a casual fuck if I am attracted to the person. Cuddling and letting someone into your life emotionaly is for me, far more intimete than sex. |

Well put. Personaly I usualy link emotion and morals with sex, but im not going to force or critasize others like a religion. Studys have shown that in the last couple of years the western culture has been starting puberty much earlyer. I think if you tie in media, fashon and the latest trends... No surprise kids are having sex at a younger age these days. I wonder if we bring it on our selfs as the schools keep feeling presure to teach sex ed at a younger age all the time. Ive been told that 30% of grade 8-9's in north van have oral std's!?! Younger girls these days definently do look much older then my gereration did at their age. But what starts to really concern me is how much I hear of my younger girlfriends and ones I looked after in daycare have been involved or tryed to become involved with much older men!?! I have said this before in other threads... It continue's to blow my mind at just how young kids are doing things today. Of this doesn't just include sex, but drinking, drugs, etc... They are starting sooooooooo young. IE: 12, 13, 14, etc.
I am still shocked when I hear of people at a certain age, doing what they are doing now. I recall when I did that same thing, but I was much older. Crazy, crazy times we live in! |
