I turned down a job in Saudi Arabia a while back, because I didn't know anyone else who was working there. My mistake, would been a great experience. Now it's dangerous (was much safer before), but they probably raised the pay of foreign workers a lot.

As it turns out, Saudi is a good place to get your head chopped off. The only place I'd go in the Middle East is Dubai - the Las Vegas of the Middle East.

Anyway regarding a majority of the people telling you your stupid for passing up this job. fuck em. They have there own oppinion and don't have the right to tell you that you didn't make the right decision for yourself.
Yes you have been to Japan and yes you loved it. But if you feel this is too big a step for you at this age and that you feel a little underqualified to be teaching just yet then go with your gut.
If your not ready don't send yourself over seas untill your sure. Life is an adventure and I love to travel, but Im still not ready to just leap right in untill I know I can handle it. I just got back from europe after a 2 week trip. My sister is going for 3 months. Right now I wasn't ready to go for much longer then that, although I wish I did now. Your still young, you have your whole life ahead of you to go and teach in Japan. Im sure when you are ready (maybe even next year) you will be able to get back there and make some money.
Anyway good luck, and just sit down with your grandma and just tell her all your reasons for not being comfortable with going over seas at this point. Im sure she will understand. People can just push a little hard when they think they know the best opportunity for you and fear you may be letting it pass you by. :)

Travel is not for everyone, and if you're not 100% into it then you're going to have a terrible time. My man went away to work at Club Med in March - he HATED it and came back after a month. His heart wasn't 100% there, and therefore he wasn't able to enjoy himself and have a good time!

If you were working 40 hours a week, which i highly doubt, you would be making $15.625 an hour. Most of the teaching jobs over there you work about 25 - 35 hours a week, so think about the hourly wage there.

The job they offered me didn't cover airfair and you have to pay for food and all that yourself...also there's no internet access and I was told I must bring a laptop and pay to hook up the internet if I needed to use it.

by law if you haven't got a BA you can not work more than 25 hours a week. Also about the cheap housing...maybe the housing itself s inexpensive but then theres the cost of phone, heat,water,electricity which all come on spereate bills and are VERY expensive...if you are goin to b out alot u must consider transportation which is also very expensive for both bus and train. I guaruntee one night out will costs you alot.
