I am guessing that you haven't experienced death, though i think that you have - and maybe you have forgotten what those first months feel like - the struggle to accept the loss, the need to be close to anything that touched your loved ones life

I am astounded that someone as smart as you can't gain some perspective in this --- Yes, the act committed was stupid -- no one is going to argue that
and yes, there was the potential for others to have been hurt -- but that doesn't change the fact that Mike had family and friends who love him -- and their loss is not lessened in any way
the fact that this loss could have been prevented is something they will think about for a long time and you pointing and yelling 'stupid' helps very little
