URGENT question for the ladies: bcp PRESCRIPTIONS....

I had thought that I had a pill package or two left to use, but it seems that I've actually ran out. My problem is that I'm supposed to start up on the pill again tomorrow (at 9am because it works well in my life that way) and the youth clinic that I normally go to is not open on fridays.

My questions are:
around how much do bcp's cost to buy (since I usually get freebies form the youth clinic).
can I just go to a walk-in clinic to get a prescription for bcp's right away, or does the procedure take long?
There is a certain brand of pills (minovral) that I've been doing very well on, and I would prefer to use that brand for the next month. If I just told my doctor that that's what I normaly use would s/he prescribe it to me?

yes you're doctor would most likely prescribe what you've been using to you.


you would have to go to your doctors first...it doesnt take long..in fact my doctor asked me if i was sexually active...gave me a very quick run down on the different ones...and wrote up a prescription


if you have fair pharmacare...it hardly costs anything

normal prices im not sure.


and i beleive if you miss one...there is a couple of hours grace period

I've never actually gone for a prescription before, because I've always been going to those free clinics, so I don't have a clue about these things..

theres no exam or anything involved...which is nice.


and even if its full price...i still remember it being really cheap

yeah walk in clinics are fine

just walk in and be like "i need a refill for such and such" and he will write it up and mybe check ur blood pressure and then ur done

its like 20$ i believe maybe 15

When i go to get more from my pharmacist i get 3 at a time.. i looked at the receipt and the total for 3 was 51.75 but i only have to pay 10.35 so if u have a plan or something it wont be bad at all... once i forgot to get more.. so i waited til the next month to start again.. that was a pretty bad idea. :s

why not just go to another free clinic in van? there are lots around the city, and a few open on fridays... (the one near Joyce is open today for sure, until 4:30)

it makes it a lot easier to just go to your family doctor and get prescribed for whatever pill.. then all you do is go to shoppers or london drugs or wherever at the end of 3 months to get another 3 month supply. that usually lasts for about a year, then you go back to your doctor and he will prescribe you for another year. i find it better/easier

i know for sure that my alesse is $30 a pack, i pay upfront and then i get the money back from medical.
you regular gp can help you out, mine gave me my first three months free cause they have them in their office.

if someones gf forgot to take her pill that day, and then had unprotected sex with her bf that same night, then can she take the pill the day after?

or even crush up the pill and rail it, so it would work farster?

I DID think about that.. but i wouldn't have been able to figure out which clinics were open today right away unless I called every single clinic.. I also don't think that most clinics are open at or before 9:00 am. I need my start time to be around 9am, because I work and go to school, and if I don't take it early in the morning I'd forget...

Anyways, I did end up buying a pack, and Sherbear was right. Regular price is around 20.00$, my total came to 23.00$.. It only took a minute to get the doctor to write me a prescription and he didn't even ask me any questions, other than "when was your last pap smear".

i remember i went to my doctors and i needed bc but i couldnt make it to the walk in clinic so i just thought the doctors would just give me them like the walk in but no! for the same pills i had to pay $20...but i didnt get them i just like fuck that shit i guess i have to go to the clinic to get my bc :PartEkid:

^... when I was referring to walk-in clinics I meant just general walk-in medical clinics and not a youth (sexual health) clinic.. Walk-in medical clinics won't give you pills for free either, but the doctor will give you a prescription so that you can purchase them yourself...
