In defense of the "better" guys out there, it may seem that assholes are typical, but they're only typical if that's all you have eyes for. Sometimes the nicest, sweetest guys go unnoticed... or they're the ones that get pushed into the backdrop as "better friends than boyfriends".

I think certain girls market themselves poorly too. If you're flaunting yourself in ways that suggest that you're a sexual object ready to be used and abused (whether or not you know it) that's really all the treatment you're gonna get.
