Dear Me, Summer 2001
Hey.
Right now you think you're going through your "party" phase. While this is true, I'll just warn you about a couple things you're going to come with in the next few years.
First of all, this whole Raver game is starting to wear on you. Your initial reasons for starting with the whole thing seem to have faded, you're starting to feel you really missed the boat on this one and are about to make this major production about leaving the rave scene.
Just shut up and go. In the end, all you do is make yourself look like a kid and you end up pissing off a bunch of your friends who thought they could count on you. You've been having a pretty good run so far, but you're starting to wonder how long you can keep this up.
The answer isn't that you're leaving the scene. You're taking a break from the whole party thing. And it won't kick in until much later (honestly, it'll take a girlfriend to pry you away from it, and pry you away from it she will, possibly to your own resentment). The good news there is that you'll get that girlfriend you've been pining for for a while now. It'll be fun, cool, interesting and the MOST IMPORTANT thing to you for a good long time, possibly too long. But don't worry. When it's all over, you'll be in a better place for it (And losing her is most definately not the worst thing that ever happened to you). And after that's over, take Komrade's advice the next day. It's a really good idea.
I know I've told you this before, but try at all times to avoid the words "I'll never do E." You don't know what you'll never do until you've done them. And in those cases, you'll be wrong. And I know you think you've never really said words to that effect, but you also have a selective memory.
And if you thought 99 was fun, wait till 2004.
