it's always hard to leave. we build little niches for ourselves, with a social circle, familiar haunts, and (usually) comfortable jobs. a lot of people never leave. however, now's the time to do it. young, and free.. your 20's are the best time to leave your comfort zone and see the world. you just have to weigh the pros and cons.. it's an individual decision.

Erik, I say u should go. It's good to get away for a while. Gives u more life experience, i'm sure it'll be good for u to get away from everything for a little while...and if u dont like it COME BACK. *hugz* I hope u make the decision that is right for u, dont just make a decision based on others thoughts!

I love how people here are all about the
"we have mountains and oceans" lol... how often do you find yourselves staring at the mountains or doing somethign in the ocean? Tourists from around the world come to see this stuff... however you british columbians don't give 2 shits about it, yet you use the mountains and ocean to mock other provinces.... |

I can't believe your dingbat boss shuffled you out of a job. So who did they give your old job to, are they more qualified?
Think about which air transport companies are likely to benefit from the Olympics. A 'copter outfit maybe that will take ppl to Whistler? Why not try places like that. Who are the floatplane companies in Vancouver harbour area? If you're thinking $$$, Alberta is hard to beat, a safe step almost guaranteed good financially. I moved there from Vancouver and in a few years was making 4X more. It's a dull place, long winter, no lakes, at least 90 minutes to get to mountains from Cangary. |

^ lol I've been to the Charlottes before. I first lived at Langara Lighthouse actually. So I'm not really an outsider. I haven't been to the QCI's (or Haida Gwa'ii as they like to call it :p ) in about 18 years. I'm just thinking it'd be a good way to save cash and make good contacts with the industry. I'm planning on finishing my 3rd Pilots License (Commercial Helicopters) and when I finish that I'd like to be able to walk into a semi-decent position.

Erik, as cheesy as it sounds, follow your heart. You probably already know what you want to do with your life. Do whatever makes you happy.
And remember, nothing is permanent: If you leave you can always come back. And if you stay, you can always pick up and leave. Oh and btw, thanks for getting that song stuck in my head Erik! :D Gah! |

It's 50-50... I want to go as I love the Islands. (Being an Island Boy myself) But there's a couple other personal things that make me want to stay here as well... kinda torn... but in time I'll see. lol I'll also see how many people will need new Dry pillows every morning.
