I'm (hopefully) going to UBC first, which reminds me, I better start applying, and finish by the end of this weekend..
Anyways, I actually have no clue what I honestly want to do in the future, and even though deciding to go to UBC is kind of risky, seeing tha tI don't have a solid reason to go there, I somehow believe that it's where I'm supposed to be. Going there, I hope will help me to to get a better idea of what it is I want to do, and if I decide that ART is my true passion, then the year after I hope to be done my portfolio, and apply to an art school ;) I've just begun my sketchbook. I can't wait to finish it ;) |

wuuuutt?
for real? cuz I was at the webpage and they said something about needing a portfolio and to have done that... project thing.. that.. box thing, that's areflection of yourself? my teacher even told me that... but huh... maybe I'm just confused? |
|

oh you're probably right. i haven't even looked into emily carr and their prerequisites and application process. that's a pretty creative idea though...the whole box thing.
I was looking at the Parsons website and tuition alone is around 15,000 bucks...not including housing. so BASICALLY...the only way i'll begoing there is if i get a scholarship. but fuck...ryerson would be perfect. |

there ar eall these people saying stuff like "Ohh Emily carr? I heard it's soo ohard to get in to!!"
now that's intimidating, but then again these people don't really look into that kind of stuff, so they're most likely basing it upon the little bit of information they know.. here's that project thing: "Visually interpret a week in your life. Select and use materials and techniques which best suit your project. These may include two- and three-dimensional, and traditional and non-traditional materials and techniques. We value inventiveness and exploration. Create a container As part of your "Map Your Week" project, you are also required to design and construct a container which holds your project. This container should reflect the character of your project. Your project, within your container, must fit into your portfolio case and be submitted with your portfolio. However, the "Map Your Week" component should be easily identifiable as a cohesive project. The portfolio, including the special project, must fit within a cubic area no larger (in inches) than 12 inches x 24 inches x 36 inches or 18 inches x 18 inches x 36 inches or 6 inches x 30 inches x 36 inches; that is, the girth should not be more than 72 inches and the length should not exceed 36 inches. Comparable sizes in centimeters are 31cm x 62cm x 92cm or 45cm x 45cm x 92cm or 15cm x 75cm x 92cm; girth should be no more than 184 cm and length, 92 cm." or else you can just check out the site http://www.eciad.bc.ca/eciadMain/adm...tml/index.html ------------------------- anyways, best of luck to every one who's hoping to get into any form of post-secondary next year, and congrats to those who already have.. AHH Gotta start applying.. shiznat! :021: |

i'm on the same boat with yoko right now..
my typical asian parents just want me to go to univeristy..UBC.. but i have no clue what i would be studying if i'm there. they just want me to get a degree.. and right now i'm lookin up on places that give me a degree around commercial design. hmm.. ryerson has a degree program with exactly what i want to do.. but that takes moving and spending money. i think i'm goin to take a year off and just get a job and make some money... and see if i can move to toronto.. (i'm a year younger than my grade neways) kwantlen, techbc, cap college all have a good comemercial design surrounding as well. like twiggy said...a change in scenery would be REALLY nice.. and needed=) yay next year instead of work experience we're having an art ap class and we just work on our portfolio the whole year... and end of the year it gets sent to a national judging thing and they rank your portfolia and give u tips and stuff. i cannot wait... University.
well, UBC is a big, unfriendly place. You have to have a good perspective and idea of what you want out of your education before you go jumping in. Just do you work, have fun, and keep an open mind. It is never going to be how you pictured it. Just remember what you are there for. Most students lose that very easily. |

first choice for me iz Cali, i had a long term residence there and i gots a place and relatives down there USC, UCLA
nothin beats Cali parties and weather :Power-P: second choice U Toronto , 40000 studentz, right i the mid of downtown, study by day party by night i dont think id be able to handle a small town in da boonies, wuld get so borrrrred :043: so jus gotta keep these grades up so i wont have to be faced with that dilemma |
