Tom Lee?
Picking up some tables, mixer, cdj, amps, etc. etc. Was going the Tom Lee route, but does anyone know of somewhere better to get this equipment? Even if there's somewhere I can walk in there and price match.
also, comments are welcome on your thoughts on the Stanton STR8.150's, Vestex CDX-05 CDJ, and the DJM-600K Last edited by neoh; Nov 15, 05 at 04:54 PM. |

hrmp, well I've heard good things about the STR8, and the Vestex I want because of the ability to play mp3 cd's, with the analog filter that adjusts the settings to make it sound more like vinyl instead of that -dB you normally get with mp3s, and wanted to acompany it with a TASCAM tt-m1, not to mention it's like, $450.
And the STR8's, supposedly from the reviews i've read on it it's blowing the new 1210 M5G off the map, with the good skip resistance with the straight tone arm the other "bonus features" and hardcore high-torque motor. The only downfall is of course the extra sylus pressure that wears out records quicker. And hold on, why do I want a cheaper mixer? Last edited by neoh; Nov 15, 05 at 06:24 PM. |

Oh i just figured the stantons were less expensive turntables and seeing as though the mixer has a pretty hefty price tag that you should switch it. I guess those stantons are pretty close in price with the techs though.
Techs are industry standard my friend they have been around for years and very rarely break down even after ten. I can't really comment on the stanton product. The mixer is a good buy if you're buying cd tables too because of the extra channels. disregar dmy earlier post. kind of. |

those new stantons look nice - i've also heard good things about the TTX1s and the high-end Vestax (for scratching at least)...
The biggest problem is if you get too used to all those extra features and then spin out, you might find some things you like to do at home impossible to pull off in a live situation... |

get the stantons if you never want to play out...if u do want to play out then get techs, there's no point having anything else because you'll never encounter them anywhere.
on that note though, my techs are heavily modified, and i'll never come across those mods anywhere...so each to there own i guess. if you go to juice tell them i sent you and they'll sort you out with a good deal. if you want to finance go to l&m. |

akeel will point you towards a ecler most likely. They seem like quality for the price.
It really depends on what you're playing and how much money you want to spend though my friend. give us a price range and I'm sure it will be alot easier to find you a mixer. |

I priced out a couple tech12 MKII's, a pioneer cdj-1000 and djm600S for $5207.46 after tax, at l&j - as I could buy it out, but I'd rather finance, easier to balance.
$1525 for the cdj, $1525 for the mixer, decks at $749 a piece, could get the stantons for less. akeel was right, overpriced and outdated. I'll take a look at an ecler. |
