excuse me for not knowing exactly what's up w/ your sister, but the kid is 3, what exactly is she going to speak her mind about atm?

personally I would wait another year or 2 so she develops, matures, phases out of whatever before you stick her in therapy. Just seems like lazy parenting to pawn off a kid on a shrink at such a vulnerable age.

I agree; it seems young; but when you see her poor little mind trying to work out skills shes never been taught, and is now to old to intagrate into her dayly life normally its a pretty sad state

for children under a certen age its Play Therapy or Art Therapy;

which has been sugested to me for her problems by a number of people. I think I might go buy a book and try it myself first.

like I said... just wonder WHEN is the "ok.. dued this is fuck up right now" part....

Too old? An average 3 year old kid is either social or not very much at all. Most of the skills that kids continue to work on at that stage are things like bettering their motor skills, sentence structure, learning new words, potty training, etc. Also kids develop at different rates than other kids do. That ultimately depends on the kids environment. If a 3 year old kid has temper problems at that age I think it's a matter of a child's inability to communicate what his/her needs are appropriately. Some 3 year old's tell you what they want, some kick and scream in gibberish and you have to kind of read or guess what they want. Kids need patience, plain and simple.

I've heard to many times that therapy dosent do shit, and especially if its considering a 3 year old comon really. The best thing to do is let the child express there emotions and especially you being the older sibling they look up to you , talk to her and like C squared said give her time , what might seem to be therapy needed might just be her learning more about herself.

Hahaha.... I remember that.

Seems to me like this one's parents should have jumped on that bandwagon years ago.

I agree with you completely about the patience; but a child learns his or her skills from birth; they learn how to deal and react from how his or her parents deal; Even befor birth a child learns how to solve problems from Chems. flowing though a parents body.
(lots and lots of years of child development classes)

if it was only kicking and screaming and normal 3 year old tempers i'd wouldn't be thinking.

But its a little more frelled up then that.

3 is a little young to be taking her to a therapist.
Usually by the time a child is 5 years of age you can pretty much put money on wether or not thier behavioural issues are infact behavioural issues or just a part of them growing up.Doctors arent able to make a diagnosis on behavioural disorders at the age of 3,and this is coming form experience. My niece had HORRIBLE temper tantrums from 9mos onwards. And we were sure she had adhd but were unable to get a diagnosis until she was like 5yrs old.And remember, behaviour isnt always 100% learned!

Anything that is learned in utero is reversable. Its not like the childs brain stops growing once its born.It continues to grow for most of thier young life.
I can appreciate your worry but its needless, unless of course you continue spinning your wheels and do nothing proactive about the situation!Try engaging her in more intellectual activities, perhaps she needs more social interaction with kids in her age group?Talk to her parents and hold thier asses to the fire perhaps?

WTF how bout N E V E R.

shes 3 years fucking old!!!

if you think she has problems now put her in therapy from the age of 3 and when shes 16 wait and see how fucked up she is because of it. Therapy is for people with REAL issues 3 years olds dont have issues they dont even know what an issue is.

Why wait until sept?Theres OODLES of pre schooler groups going on during the summer time...I mean even taking her to the park on a daily basis is a guarantee she`ll get the social interaction that she needs from people that are emotionally, mentally, intellectually and physically on the same page as her.

My niece is 8,she`ll be 9 this year. And if she doesnt get enough social interaction with kids her age,her behaviour goes to shit and then everyone around her gets to deal with the reprocussions!

anyways good luck:)
