long distance
My best friend lives in Kelowna and my boyfriend lives in Florida. It can be really tough at times, especially when I'm having a bad day/week and would REALLY like to be able to hang out and relax, BUT it's sooooo incredibly awesome when I DO get to see them!
My boyfriend comes to visit on Monday for 10 days, and I am more excited than a 7 year-old at disneyland!!!! |

^ Thanks, lady! I will!
As for the phone rates, my honey and I talk for literally 3-6 hours each day. I use Bravo phone cards - I get 1111 minutes for $10, plus it comes with a free bonus 60 minute card. Definitely makes the long distance thing A LOT easier when you can talk ALL THE TIME :) |

When Scott was living in Calgary we'd talk on the phone at least an hour a day which for each of us would equal a return flight every month or two :P
Yeah when he'd come visit for a week I'd be sooooooooooo excited. The visits were always rad. A week off work and with my #1...it'd be soo sad when he left everytime though :( The shittiest part about distance is really wanting that person to be around so bad when you need them or even when you're having a good time somewhere and you wish they were there too. I totally know how it is. I feel really really really lucky he's living in the same area code as me. |

I had a long distance relationship with my ex and he lived in Calgary, I lived here, it was so hard, we would always count down the days and buy phone cards. I got a long distance phone plan so that I could tlk to him more, MSN helped too because you could use webcam. LEaving was always the hardest

How do you do it!? I've tried the long dist. before and it's been very difficult for me. Being able to talk on the phone for that long definitely makes a huge difference, but for me it just doesn't replace physical contact enough. Just being able to see my boy on a daily basis makes me giddy, even if we don't actually spend that much time together it is a major asset.
Congrats though for making it work, I bet the 10 days will be amazing and just fly by! |

cos my parents are in the UK, and my friends are in Australia kinda like MSN - as long as you are both contacts, and you have a microphone and speakers (or a headset) it's totally free to download, sign up and talk, so no more phonecards or anything whenever your online and they call it your computer sings to you :) plus, calling within North America from your computer to a phone number is free SO.... if your man is in Florida, you can call his phone from your computer and talk for free i know, not the same as them being there, but still, a money saver :) hang in there, i've totally been in your situation before, and definitely know the feeling of not having your close friends around you |

^ Right on! Thanks :) I'd still have to use phone cards b/c a lot of the time we're both no where near our computers, but that would be a great idea for when we are!

People ask me this all the time, and all I can say is "he's worth it". It's true. I mean, we know that it's only a matter of time before we can be together. It's not like it's one of those LD relationships where we haven't discussed the future, so I think that really helps. Knowing that we have a plan and that both of us are doing everything we can to make it work keeps my mind at ease. It also makes it easier that we've always lived apart. I'm sure it would be 2374325745820 times harder if we had lived in the same place and then one of us moved away. Like I said before, the only times that it's REALLY hard is when I'm having a bad day/week and just want the comfort of him being around! |
