FREAKNIGHT returns for its tenth anniversary! This very special installment of the FREAKNIGHT saga will be a much more intimate affair in comparison to previous years, but will be keeping all the qualities that make FREAKNIGHT the biggest and best electronic music festival in the Northwest! From the crazy costumes, to the top notch international talent, to the premier production values, this is the FREAKNIGHT we have all been waiting for as… USC Events and Electra-Fi Entertainment proudly present… FREAKNIGHT X THE NORTHWEST’S TENTH ANNUAL HALLOWEEN RITUAL Friday OCTOBER 27th 2006 FREMONT STUDIOS 155 N 35TH Seattle, WA Featuring THREE MASSIVE performance areas… area01 THE CRYSTAL METHOD (DJ SET!) “The Crystal Method’s Drive” now available at iTunes | www.thecrystalmethod.com | Los Angeles, CA Ever since they started making their first singles in the mid 90’s out of the Bomb Shelter--their congested home studio in Los Angeles, California--Ken Jordan and Scott Kirkland of The Crystal Method have held strong as forerunners of the electronic music revolution in America. A Grammy nomination; a slot on Linkin Park’s recent monster benefit for their Music For Relief fund; catwalk DJ’s for Rock ‘N Republic’s Fall 2004 Los Angeles Fashion Week show; and “Community Service,” their popular Friday night weekly radio show on Indie 103.1 FM--these are all small parts of what makes up The Crystal Method’s overall recent presence. The follow-up mix album in 2005 is dedicated to bringing fans the freshest and most exciting selections in what they love most: break-beat music. DJ ICEY Y4K CD RELEASE TOUR | Distinctive Records | System Recordings | Zone Records | www.djicey.com | Florida Discovered by BBC Radio 1 DJ and longtime A&R kingpin Pete Tong, Icey became the first American producer to sign to his ffrr label in 1997 as an artist, and then the first American DJ to be selected to record a prestigious "Essential Mix". With over 200 12” singles under his production belt, the “King of Breaks” has SoundScanned over 300,000 units in North America alone. DONALD GLAUDE Eden Recordings | Durty Records | www.donaldglaude.com | www.edenrecordings.net | Tacoma, WA Over the past 14 years, Donald Glaude has created vibrant musical landscapes for audiences up and down the West Coast. Born in Tacoma, Glaude grew up listening to George Clinton's Parliament Funkadlic and R&B radio. Living in Tacoma, which lacked a club scene at the time, Glaude taught himself to mix with a pair of mismatched turntables and a Radio shack mixer. He began to DJ anywhere he could in the Seattle and Tacoma area, working the same clubs as another up-and-coming DJ by the name of Dan. Together DJ Dan and Donald sparked the rave scene in Seattle and have developed large underground followings. The best way to experience Donald Glaude is in person. A fan of music as well as an accomplished DJ, Glaude continues to provide the best evening around. DJ BABY ANNE “BABY ANNE ROCKS” In Stores October 17, 2006 | www.bassqueen.com | Zone Records | System Recordings | Florida Motivated by her good friend DJ Icey, DJ, Producer and future Mixtress , Florida ’s Baby Anne first shimmied behind the turntables in 1992. Soon after meeting at a local Orlando gig, Icey encouraged the fledgling DJ as she educated herself with the tricks of the trade, and shortly thereafter, Baby Anne began getting bookings. As they say, once she bought her first set of Technics SL 1200’s, there was no looking back. To date, DJ Baby Anne has released over six CD compilations: “Bass Queen In The Mix” (1999), “Bass Queen In The Mix 2” (2000), “Dark Side of the Boom” (2001), “I’m About To Break” (2002), “Mixed Live” (2003) and “Mixtress” (2004). Each successive release has demonstrated her increasing prowess behind the decks, including not only her indelible rockin’ sound, but at least one of her own productions as well. Having received rave reviews and press coverage in publications ranging from top-50 market dailies such as The Miami Herald and The World-Herald, to major weeklies such as New Times and Orlando Weekly to popular fanzines such as Lunar Magazine and Club Planet, DJ Baby Anne definitely has a positive career trajectory. Undoubtedly America ’s most popular female Breaks DJ, Baby Anne is making her mark on the nation, one badass breakbeat at a time. DJ DIG-DUG USC Events | www.djdig-dug.com | Seattle, WA Making his USC debut at Freak Night 2, Doug McIntyre has been one of USC’s flagship artists ever since. Originally from Portland, OR, Doug gained inspiration from DJ Czech (Vancouver, BC), who led him to the unique and clever combination of speed garage and bassline-heavy breaks that became his signature sound. His track, “Crowd Control” featuring lyrics by DJ Swamp (available on the USC6 compilation CD) is further proof that his extensive technical training and creative ideas set him apart from the rest. The future looks incredibly bright for this DJ/Producer/Sound Engineer. vs. RYLE vs. SOULKID Next Level | Lovetribe | F8 | Seattle, WA NL's own hard bangin' beat freaker bringing the boom with some brand new original tracks, slammin floor burners and tricks up his sleeve! There ain't no denying Soulkid's reputation for being a top notch ambassador of Breaks and grabbing crowds attention. If you want it full of bass, Soulkid is just what the doctor orderd! area02 JUDGE JULES (FIRST EVER SEATTLE 18+ APPEARANCE!) BBC Radio 1 | Judgement Sundays | www.judgejules.net | United Kingdom Jules began playing in 1987, launching the career that has easily notched up hundreds of thousands of miles, millions of spins of the decks and countless gigs in far-flung destinations, as well as the odd dirty warehouse thrown in for good measure. Jules’ DJ sets are the epitome of what DJing is about – passion, amazing tunes and a set of hands capable of the most nimble of mixing. With a list of awards that would make the American Olympic team blush, Jules has earned his place amongst the DJ aristocracy. Rarely out of DJ Mag’s top 10 in the annual Top 100 DJs poll, Jules has won such accolades as – “Best DJ” (Muzik Awards), No.1 DJ (Mixmag reader’s poll), “Best International DJ” (Dancestar), and “Best Radio DJ” at the Smirnoff Dancestars. Awards aside, there is no doubt that Jules remains one of the most popular figures in dance music, both home and abroad. DJ IRENE DJ Irene Presents: "ULTRA TRANCE VOL. 6" CD RELEASE | Los Angeles, CA The cult of DJ Irene began at Hollywood’s mega club Arena. Here, her DJ and life dramas played out through her mixing and publicly on the dance floor. This only made people love her more and helped her to see how she could give back by leading a positive life with the music. She says, “At one point I realized that I am not just playing records to the same people every weekend. These people care about me, more than I care for myself. I knew I had to make them proud by being proud of myself, by taking care of myself, by being the best.” So what? Another girl DJ. Not in this case. She doesn’t go topless, doesn’t smile coquettishly or seductively for the camera, she didn’t just start mixing 3-5 yrs. ago when it became cool. DJ Irene is DJ culture in all its brazen, globetrotting, mythic womanizing, beat banging, trend raising and trend killing glory. If you consider yourself knowledgeable about the DJ world but haven’t seen DJ Irene yet then you haven’t seen one of the most entertaining and engaging DJs in the biz. Find out where she will be at next and don’t let nothing stop you from getting there. Be fearless, like her. TECH ITCH & DYLAN Tech Itch Recordings | Obscene | Freak | Tech Freaks | Metalheadz | Penetration Records | Renegade Hardware | United Kingdom During 1991 Mark Caro was based in Birmingham, DJing at local UK hardcore parties. He soon started out on the production trail, with a very limited set up, producing hardcore techno. As his musical production skills and talent developed he released tracks as Ent. T through the Ibiza label. Introduced by a mutual friend, Mark soon formed a partnership with Darren Beale. As a duo they were moving away from the conventions of hardcore, following breakbeat into the less static realms of jungle. The pair's earliest tracks came toward the peak end of the UK hardcore scene. Technical Itch is now widely known as being only Mark Caro, and his original tracks are widely renowned for their unique style, high level of production and programming. The name Dylan needs no introduction when it comes to drum & bass, He has been at the top of the scene for some time now and this is well deserved! Dylan began back in the Electro era buying records and mixing them up on a couple of budget turntables, He then followed the music and studied all the different genres, evolving from Electro to Hip Hop to House and finally, his life…Drum n’ Bass! From his residency at the Renegade Hardware nights at The End in Central London, to across the U.S., South Africa, Europe, Puerto Rico and, of course, the U.K., Dylan’s djing has been consistently crippling dancefloors for years. His style ranges from demented darkness to ghetto funk, always retaining those trademark hard-driving, solid beats. Pretty decent lineup.
I've never seen Icey before and would love to see him as well as Judge Jules. I saw Aphrodite at the Lotus a few years back and im not too keen on drum and bass but he did in fact impress me. Wont be heading down to this one because I've decided to spend my Halloween locally. Good luck on the show! :) edit: HOLYY THATS SEXY Last edited by FeelGood; Sep 22, 06 at 02:20 AM. |
