Sat Sep 29th 2007 - UVIP Party!!
Okay so I had this crazy idea... goes like this...
Lets throw a 2 stage outdoor event with a bunch of different island promoters working together with the main purpose being to help grow our scene. UVIP (United Vancouver Island Promoters) This is how it'll work... first, the party itself would be 100% a charity event. Each production company involved would be allowed to DONATE 1 DJ to the cause. (Some sets would have to be b2b) No out of town headliners will be booked for this event in order to keep costs and ticket prices down to a minimum. This way we can charge $10 for advanced tickets as apposed to $20 advance. The notion here is that every party kid that comes HAS to bring one NEW RAVER. With a $10 advanced ticket price instead of $20, people can then buy TWO tickets with their $20 and bring their new person!! This is also the reason why we're dong this event at the end of September, school will be back in, and new people will be much easier to recruit. Or just post on this thread that you're in. :P Anyone wanna help me run the Newbie Raver Initiation Games?!?! LOL We Also need to come up with a proper name for this event that does it justice, I had a good one, but I can't remember it at the moment. We could also make this an annual event!! So we really only need a couple more to invest $300 or $400 each. =) The money aside, it's pretty cut and dry. And we'll probably use Lucas for sound and lighting, which he'll get paid for, assuming he's joining the cause. |

We should definately load up a bus full of people from Van, I'm sure we all know people who'd be down for that. On a side note, I've had some discussions about possible venues for this event and it seems like some of you would prefer a non rennegade venue. I agree, and it would help us be able to be more liberal with our promotion if we had a legal secure venue. We'd also be able to announce the venue well in advance, with maps, this way everyone knows where they're going, and more people will come. Iguana Ranch is an option I want to look into, I don't know of many other legal outdoor venues, so if anyone has any good ideas... |

Being one of the longest lasting promoters on the island it wouldn't be right not being involved :)
It's going to be hard to choose a DJ though, I mean, I would obviously want to play myself but sucks not being able to let my other DJs play! Just give me my own stage i'll pay for it :) Also, who gets what timeslot? Do we draw straws or what?! Mike |
