wait.. is someone really trying to throw a show here? or is this all a juggernaut of a campaign for worst promoter/biggest douche of the universe? ahahahaha.
for entertainment's sake I will now provide you with a quote from december when Dreamsky was trying to 'sign' me and book me.. "WE ARE BIG TIME PROMOTERS. WE WILL SATISFY YOU!" I can't fucking stand trainwreck promoters. What a joke. I've seen many come and go in the last 10 yrs in the scene here.. but I don't think I've ever seen more of an unrealistic, head-in-the-sand trainwreck promoter lol! Has there ever been one? From an outdoor party, to the art gallery, to east kelowna hall, yikes!!!
I just hope they have enough fans in that place because it will be cooking in there, especially if they do happen to pack that place (250). Party starts at noon and finishes at midnight, where the hell is everyone going to go at midnight, that's just when the party is suppose to start!!! |

In the fall, Brett tried to host a rave at the Rutland Centenial Hall on a Sunday night.
He had no DJs scheduled and I got a call about playing at it that evening. Weird! Since I live up Rultand Rd, I figured it wouldn't hurt to walk down and check it out. LOL! SPL sound had done a complete sound & lighting set up but they never received the deposit. They refused to start up without a deposit. The venue had not seen their deposit and they refused to let anyone in until they got their deposit. Brett walked around the place talking shit about being a big time promoter and bringing in Tiesto. He was shifty talking on his phone trying to get a friend to come to the venue with money for the deposits. Apparently, a bank machine is hard to locate. Still no DJs and no gear. A few teenagers (like 8 or so) collected in the parking lot drinking and etc.. the venue people were not happy about that. After about 30 minutes, I split. Im so fed up of these kinds of "promoters" moving to the Okanagan to allegedly throw "the biggest and best parties ever." LOL! So retarded. Get a job. Last edited by JGirl; Jun 30, 08 at 07:58 PM. It wasn't so much the bullshit that usually pissed people off - it was more the arrogance and the attitude of "we're here to save your scene" or "you don't know what a *real* party is like" that rubbed everyone the wrong way - followed by the epic fail of the event (or in some cases, non-events) of course... |

HAH! "Cancelled"
Anyways... We get those "We're here to save your scene" Toronto peeps too. We got them in Montreal too. Ridiculous. Toronto ravers rave better or something? lol The thing is, the scene doesn't need saving lol The challenges we face in the Interior with these clown promoters have to do with the few people in our community who get events confused. Some of these kids live far away like Kamloops, Salmon Arm, Keremeos, and loads of little towns sprinkled everywhere. Kids mostly connect on the internet and want to party and drop some coin into shows and dance to DJs they like in atmosphere created by intelligent, driven, and dedicated teams... I don't want to see those partiers dropping $50 into an event that will be bunk and then have no money for our shows. See friends drive a long way to spin at bunk shows. When a new chap comes into town and talks shit with fancy poster-in-hand, the local ticket selling shops let it go in one ear and out the other. The kids who want to party often don't see the difference between the credible outdoor jams and the bunks jams. Sometimes, we find ourselves in situations where we have to separate the bullshit from the gems to ensure our events are considered to be solid. A shop owner that sells tickets to most shows got some events mixed up 2 weeks ago. He began telling ticket buyers not to buy our show's tickets because of this n that. That nonsense go to my ears and I had to go have a chat with the fellow to see where the info got skewed. Turns out the lack of confidence with Brett selling tickets at the shop, then stripping the tickets, only to bring new ones with new flyers, then do it again a week later, then add Hip Hop to the bill, then drop the price... then another event dropped their price a week before the show and changed venues three times, and suddenly our show got lumped into all that. lol Having my friends say they were turned away when going to buy tickets at the shop after a 2 hours drive from Kamloops is shitty. LOL Undoing bullshit is harder than spotting it. lol. Anyways, why do all that networking, DJ booking, flyer making, shit-talking, promoting, venue booking, un-booking nonsense? Seems like a giant waste of time to me. Gawd I hate that word "scene" LOL Last edited by JGirl; Jul 01, 08 at 08:29 AM. Reason: spellingk |
