Sat-Feb 21st [Bad Boy Bill & Steve Smooth] at The Showbox
Dragon Entertainment & EFE Entertainment Presents "Global Sessions" a Once a Month Electronic Event at the Showbox to Showcase The World's Best Electronic DJ's.
BAD BOY BILL (Mixconnection Multimedia/ Chicago) - Behind the Decks DVD Tour Technology has finally caught up with house DJ legend Bad Boy Bill. The long-awaited new release from the DJ voted by the public as “America’s Favorite DJ” this year in BPM Culture Magazine’s poll is ready to take the nation by storm. Bad Boy Bill, notorious for his Bangin’ The Box Series, steps up now with a new release sure to be the first of the its kind: Behind The Decks. Out on System Recordings, the 2-disc set boasts an almost 2-hour DVD in addition to a 70+ minute mix CD, with a discrete 5.1 Dolby surround sound mix with visuals. In a market full of simulated-surround sound DJ mixes, which merely add some reverb and audience participation in an attempt to give the mix a live feel, Behind The Decks actually isolates vocals from percussion and the like, bringing a truly revolutionary live feel through 5 speakers. Also included are Bill’s music videos, behind-the-scenes footage from the road and in the studio, and live interview footage, which Bill hopes will give his audience “a good picture of what I’m like and what I do.” Bill got his start DJing as a teenager, joining a DJ crew in the neighborhood and spinning at DJ battles. Only a senior in high school, Bad Boy Bill started his own record label. He eventually became a household name as a DJ on Chicago’s B96, using his “Bad Boy Bill” audio ID as a way of distinguishing himself from the other DJs on the radio. Today, Bill spends most of his time producing tunes in the studio or out on the road, playing up to 150 gigs annually, everywhere from New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles to international hotspots including Peru, Colombia, Germany, England, and Spain. Spinning the crowd into a dancing frenzy is Bill's motivation. "My DJ style originated with the idea to remix a song live with two copies of the same record and then combine scratching and hip-hop techniques with house grooves." Bill says. "The payoff for me is seeing people dancing and having a great time during my set.” Now the live experience can be brought straight into your own living room, and with a number of Bill’s own tracks also included on Behind The Decks, the album is a great precursor to Bad Boy Bill’s next project: his artist album STEVE SMOOTH (Mixconnection Multimedia/ Chicago) Born and raised on Chicago's Southside, Steve Smooth first entered the dance music scene in 1991. Starting out at a record store and then a Chicago based independent record label, he became immersed in the house music culture. As a dj, Steve worked to perfect his style of mixing, hitting the Chicago club circuit, gaining him recognition along with guest appearances on several college radio stations, eventually leading to a frequent guest spot on the Sunday mix show, "The Street Flava," which aired on Chicago's largest radio station B96 (96.3 FM). Steve has since ventured into the studio, producing and remixing tracks for some of the hottest dance labels, including, International House Records and Moody Recordings. With his first mixes on "Everyday My Life" by legendary house diva, Dajae, and the remix of the vocal anthem, "Time" by Dajae, Steve quickly made his mark in the house and dance music community. As well, his work has received much deserved attention from Billboard Magazine. His first original production "Beat Freaker" created a frenzy on dance-floors, worldwide. Gaining recognition as a production force to be reckoned with, Steve's skills in the studio have earned him a part on Bad Boy Bill's production team, with credits on Bad Boy Bill's dance-floor hits, "Everybody," "Costa Del Sol" and "Happy." Now Steve has been taking his sound to the masses on tour as Bad Boy Bill's opening artist. Opening DJ Ryle (Next Level, Seattle) Doors open at 10pm 18+ & 21+ With 3 Full Bars $15 Limited Presales will be available at Platium Records The Showbox Box Office, & www.ticketswest.com. $20 DOS Last edited by Jaymz; Jan 26, 04 at 02:38 AM. |
