Phoenix, Arizona's Z-Trip is not your ordinary hip-hop DJ. Recently relocated to Los Angeles, he is most notable for his relentless efforts to incorporate rock 'n' roll breaks and other styles into his mixing. By fusing dancehall, funk, drum 'n' bass, techno and rock, Z-Trip saves himself from DJ damnation by not relying on the same, played-out hip-hop beats and scratches. In 2002, he showed off his skills as an untouchable mixmaster in the documentary, "Scratch," Doug Pray's feature film chronicling the history of the hip-hop DJ and the turntablism movement. In addition to touring with Linkin Park, Adema and Cypress Hill on this year's Projekt Revolution Tour, Z-Trip also joined forces with fellow turntablists DJ Shadow and Cut Chemist for some live dates. He is currently working on a mix record with Cut Chemist and Nu-Mark of Jurassic 5 as well as remixes for the upcoming Linkin Park album.
