His flavor of Nu Skool breakbeat and funky progressive house is making waves and leaving followers hungry for more. A trained musician and engineer with a back ground in performing arts and the passion for his trade is clear in every performance, DJ Soma has become a sound to be sought after and is a frequent act in the city of Vancouver's Nightlife. After a year of travel and touring in South Africa during the year 2000 Soma been busy; working with production companies such as Ph1.ca, Form & Kaos, Union, AGROculture, Fundamental, Twenty Hz and is now the latest addition to the Solid Corp. roster. His resent work includes the launch of the Bassloin series of mixed CDs and his "Sonic Beaver Radio" show, which is featured weekly on Monday nights on Brighton based www.ScratchnSpin.net . the show is aired 9-10 pm GMT and replayed 8-9 pm PST. (San Fransico), Qzen, DJ Fixx, Aquasky and DJ Deekline be sure to watch your bass bins and expect to be shaken as this guy means First Seattle All Ages Appearance Kem – Darkcity/ Virus/ N.B.A. - (Labels)Tomorrow Sounds/Bassrock -Portland Producing since '98, Kem first experimented in drum and bass and downtempo, ultimately settling on breakbeat as the new breaks movement began to surface. Heavily influenced by drum and bass, he was drawn in by the hard drums and driving bass of the UK 'nuskool' sound. Residing in his hometown of Portland OR, USA, Kem is part of the local DJ collectives Darkcity, N.B.A, and Virus, who have held Portland's longest running breaks night. Over the years he's played alongside such breaks talent as Rennie Pilgrem, Chris Carter, Aquasky, Hyper, Atomic Hooligan and Influenza. The end of 2004 saw his first major releases out on Tomorrow Sounds (UK) and Bassrock (UK), as well as a feature in Rinse magazine (CAN).
