Bruce Springsteen
This is one of those artists that has been forgotten by later generations. He's been passed off by generations as nothing more than a "misunderstood american nationalist".
Honestly though, nothing could be further from the truth. The man has been a rock in song writing since he stepped on the scene. We're talking about someone who has been on the cover of Time magazine being touted the next Bob Dylan.
In my eyes, he's lived up to every claim of that.
After nearly 20 years of releasing "Born In The USA" he's released "Magic". This is quite possibly his best album with the E Street Band since "The River", which is probably one of the top 10 albums ever written.
As much as most people would love to discount Springsteen as nothing more than another generic mid-america songwriter, you really can't. The man writes phenomenally arranged songs, and always has a message for his audience.
I'd say he's easily one of the greatest songwriters of the 20th century, and also one of it's greatest story tellers.
"Magic" is easily one of the best albums written this year, and it's a shame that a younger generation isn't picking it up to really understand what true song writing is about.
