The Breakfastaz are going to return to Vancouver on June 23rd and set it off. SIR KUTZ, US - BodyRock // Future Sound of Breaks - www.myspace.com/sir_kutz After six years of musical endeavors and touring with several rock and punk bands, Julian Stephens; known now as Sir Kutz, has turned his attention to the EDM scene. That is quite a transition. Moving from opposite ends of the music spectrum he started playing records in 1999 and was heavily into breakbeats. After lots of learning and hard work, Sir Kutz landed a spot with the Virus breakbeat crew. Virus was running things in Portland Oregon. They hosted the longest running breakbeat night; "Virus Breaks" at Conan's Pub. One thing generally leads to another, and after several sucessful years the crew split up onto other projects and Virus fell off. Another group of dj's and investors came together under the name "Red Cube" to enhance Portland's breakbeat scene. Red Cube has given Sir Kutz the chance to open for the worlds biggest acts and put Portland's underground scene on the map. Since then, Sir Kutz has relocated to Seattle Washington 4 years ago. Julian likes a challenge. Moving to a major US city and starting over sounded like a good challenge. It was the best decision he had ever made. Sir Kutz quickly climbed the ranks and is currently involved with the biggest club nights and radio show in Seattle; "Broken Grooves" at Contour, "The Vortex" C89.5 radio show, "Open House" at Last Supper Club and "BodyRock" formally at Element and currently at Heaven's. The BodyRock crew started as a clubnight and has transformed into an army of Northwest promoters, producers, and dj's. Julian is one of the key members of BodyRock and they have managed to spread their filthy vibe to many of the popular clubs in Seattle. The crew throws events with a drum and bass, breakbeat, dubstep, and garage music format. Its few and far between that promoters do multi-genre shows. This makes BodyRock stand apart from the pack. It is because of BodyRock that Sir Kutz starting doing dnb sets. He is new to the drum n bass scene but has already found his sound and is blowing audiences away with 8 years of experience behind the turntables. Viva la BodyRock! In addition to his love for breakbeats and drum and bass, he has a massive collection of 2-step and rare speed garage gems. If your not familiar with speed garage, its a genre that appeared first appeared in the United Kingdom in late 1997-1999 and sounds like house music with sloppy drums and womp womp basslines. The scene quickly died out and the tracks were hard to find. Fortunately there has been a rebirth, there are producers in US and UK have been making new garage tracks for the last two years. With hope of a new speed garage scene, Julian started a side-project as co-founder of a North American speed garage collective along with upcoming speed garage producers Kor, Fx Logik, Cinto, Jayrod, and Underground Vinyl's Scot E. The United States of Bassline was founded in 2004 and incorporates dj's and producers from Las Vegas, Seattle, British Columbia, Los Angeles, Youngstown, and Victoria BC. The crew already has releases on several independent labels and has plans to start an imprint of their own. Sir Kutz loves to travel, network, and rock parties. Julian is reaping the rewards of his hard work. In addition to headlining numerous events on the West Coast, Sir Kutz has shared the stage with a-list dj's/producers such as; Dj Icey, Diesel Boy, Reid Speed, Scissorkicks, Dj Craze, Factor E, Photek, The Freestylers, Capital J, R.A.W., Adam Freeland, Deepsky, Ctrl-Z, Hive, Screwface, The Incredible Melting Man, Simply Jeff, Ed209, Trona, Baby Anne, Bad Boy Bill, Dj Micro, Dj Mea, John B, General Midi, Tipper, and has even had Skibbadee MC over one of his sets in Vancover BC . He is constantly rocking his "three stylez" sound in clubs all over North America, Canada and recently made it over seas to Taiwan. Sir Kutz is a natural behind the turntables. His seamless mixing and big bassline track selection will blow you away. This is one dj you want to keep your eye on.
