This is technically correct - we have joined up this year to throw a party.

I've known the Soundproof crew for a very long time and have huge respect for them. Note that I wasn't involved with picking the name for this particular party. At the end of the day though, it's a name... virtually every name at some point and time has been used by promoters both on the Island and here on the mainland. It is bound to happen where one gets used again.

Hell... a promoter on the island this year through a party called Twisted. -- We've been around for 9 years.

Dennis and I joined with Attila to throw parties a few years back. FnK's opinion of Attila aside, our partnership was a successful one and resulted in shows like Trancemission, Sinful, and Pink - by all accounts successful and well-run events over the past three years.

Both Dennis and I have been part of the Evolve and Twisted rosters as well as being partners behind the scenes. As Attila has returned to Serbia full time now to throw events there and we have no interest in moving out there, it seemed only logical that we continue to throw these signature events here with Azim and Kraig as we work with them already and people generally seemed to enjoy these parties.

In a nutshell, its a different company throwing the event, but the same creative team is behind it, so expect the same level of production and attention to detail as with previous Trancemissions.

Does this mean that we will see Twisted/Taz branded parties using the Freeze/Sinful names from now on?
If not, I'm actually considering on capitalizing on those shows previous successes myself!

Holy shit people... I love how the members of FNK feel they are the governing body of fricken past/previous/current rave party names. -- I wasn't aware a rave council was created.

How about this - As was already stated, Trancemission was a previous party name utilized by Alje/Dennis/Attila/Evolve in previous years - we (Twisted), alongside Alje and Dennis, have chosen to use that name again.

Appreciating that this name was utilized by Soundproof in the past (and granted this is not legally copyrighted/trademarked by them in anyway), should they feel offended, you can feel free to have them contact me directly via email (kraig@twisted.ca) at which point Azim and I will make a decision to changing the name of the party.

Just kind of irritating that Trancemission 3.0 and Trancemission 10 were in the same area about two months apart. I'm more miffed this wasn't fixed last year. Is it really that difficult to throw a party with a name that wasn't used last year? Esp. after finding out someone else in town was already using it?

I'm about 99% certain that a lot of the Soundproof crew don't really even pay attention to what Twisted is up to.

Also thinking that the "Well, they didn't copyright it so therefore it's not wrong for us to jack the name" argument is rather weak. Technically I'm not legally obliged to hold the door open for the old lady living on my floor but it is polite.

Dude... I'm not presenting an argument at all. The name was not finally decided by Twisted - it was utilized before by the parties I've already mentioned. That said as Twisted is throwing this party in joint with other people, we will take responsibility and are happy to entertain any concerns that Soundproof has at which point Azim and I would make the decision to change the name.

On a side note, talking shit on the net is lame... if you have an issue with in this case Twisted, contact me personally. -- I had honestly forgotten about the Soundproof crew still throwing the Trancemission parties. Had it been brought to my attention directly before we went to print, the problem would have been dealt with. I can't keep tabs of every party name ever used by a promotions company no matter how long they've been around for.
