rambling
MySpace.com - Thomas Mezey - Vancouver, CA - House / Electronica / Funk - www.myspace.com/thomasmezey
what this city needs is more respect for its dj/producers, those that try and infuse new music into the pool. My hometown MTL, we love our local artists and promote them with a lot more respect than out here. Props to this show for pushing local djs at least, but how can you not have a headliner for that price ? 40$ is a headliner price, if I want big lights I'll go to a light store, I want solid music and the credibility that a successful headliner brings. They are artists who are more serious about their crafts and have 'made' it. It's all about the passion and that's what shows are lacking these days. When you see an artist spin live or put on a live show you are paying admission as a sign that you acknowledge the fact that the artist has accomplished something worthy of your money. We gotta get back to basics, a good space (not maritime),local dj/producers, and a headliner and boom, credible good times. There's a real lack of the unity feeling at shows. Red room has standardized the idea of house night in Vancouver, dark and scary all the time , we need the love beats explosion to happen again. |

People think we are crazy, people think we can't pull it off, people think it is too much to pay for a list of locals.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I'll listen but all I ask you is how many are willing to take initiative and do something? What people can't see is the amount of time and effort being spent by us to make this event what it is. Yes... everything a promoter says it's all hype and bullshit until the show happens. As I said before, if you care to come check it out I believe you will be pleasantly surprised with what we have planned for the people that night. |
