In the main room… and at his ONLY DECEMBER SHOW IN VANCOUVER… MAT THE ALIEN – MySpace.com - Mat The Alien - Whistler / Squamish / England / Outer Space, CA - Funk / Turntablism / Breakbeat - www.myspace.com/matthealien Let’s clear something up - technically Mat is not an Alien though after seeing him play a DJ set you’d think otherwise! He’s been DJ’ing since ’88 but it was after being introduced to the DJ culture of the Acid House warehouse party scene that he was really hooked on blending beats on the turntables. He further developed his style while working in his family’s record store (opened by his dad in the UK when Mat was just 4) and it wasn’t until after he arrived in Canada that his turntable abilities suddenly jumped to new heights. Heights later described by Knowledge Magazine as, “awe inspiring & some next level shit.” Mat’s music selection appeals to a wide variety of crowds, spanning many genres from Hip-Hop, Funk, Dancehall, Breakbeats, Drum & Bass, Rock, and more. He has toured across the globe at events of up to 10,000 people, pioneering regular club nights in Whistler, Vancouver and even held down a bi-weekly residency in Las Vegas at Eye Candy (at Mandalay Bay) for 8 months. At shows Mat is known for his pristine, quick mixing of many genres (usually driven by heavy bass-lines) and scratching techniques that really do sound like they came from another world. Did Mat really get abducted by aliens? We’ll never know but one thing is certain, he has proven time and time again that he plays out of this world DJ sets. Also playing is one of the newest Big Sexy Funk resident DJ’s (alongside DJ PRECISE)… KRAIG – Twisted / CanThrill / Big Sexy Funk Funky - That best describes the style of music that Kraig loves to play. Though he is most passionate about the sound of Breakbeats, mid tempo Funk and old skool Hip Hop, Kraig can also be found dropping the sweet sounds of soul, funk, electro and vocal House music all around Vancity at hundreds of clubs and parties. Kraig has residencies at CanThrill's LIFTED Saturday’s at the new Tunnel Club, LOBBY Friday's at Ginger62 and with Twisted Productions at their numerous club nights and events. And featuring LADY P rocking the mic like only she can do all night! IN THE BACK ROOM… we have none other than Big Sexy Funk resident… VINYL RITCHIE – MySpace.com - Wicked Lester - Vancouver, CA - Breakbeat / Down-tempo / Funk - www.myspace.com/lesterwicked This dude needs no introduction… He is the main man behind Big Sexy Funk Saturday’s and has held his own both as a DJ and Producer for 20 years in the Vancouver scene. You never know quite what to expect when Vinyl Ritchie hits the decks… maybe he’ll bring along his tool boxes full of 45’s… maybe play a set entirely of his own productions?
