FNK's Annual Christmas Charity Event
"FEED THE HOMELESS" CHARITY EVENT
As some of you know, Winston holds an annual charity event to help spread the Christmas cheer to our unfortunate citizens of the streets, especially our youths. We will be gathering together to prepare sandwiches to distribute and are also looking for those who wish to participate to bring a bundle of socks with them to hand out. We figure that it would be nice for them to keep their feet warm at night ;) If you wish to donate any other forms of clothing, feel free to do so. Here are the details: Date: December 20, 2008 Location: Clubhouse Restaurant - 255 2nd Avenue West, Vancouver Time to meet: 2PM We will be preparing at the restaurant and start our trek by 4:30PM. Please make sure to bundle up yourself. It'll be a cold one. According to this thread Winston, the following have volunteered: Carrie miss. myra MC Hammered kiMMie baby-phat neoh wishbone Mr.Ektion Veni*C Hope we have some more volunteers to sign up in the week to follow for this fantastic cause :embarrest: |

it'll be colder than a mother out there- and we'll only be there for a couple of hours. them? much more often. if i were like them, i'd love it if someone rolled up to me and offered a sandwich for nothing.
in years of past i've flaked out either to do something more important or without a good reason. THIS YEAR i'm going because i didn't last year, and it's a great cause. |

:( i'm glad you guys managed to fill my void. Did you have bags of clothes to hand out too? I had a couple bags to bring, too. I'll stick them in a clothing bin or something. Which are the ones that give to people around here (as opposde to the "bad ones" that ship the clothing off elsewhere)?

REVIEW (2008.12.20) FEED THE HOMELESS @ Clubhouse Restaurant
FEED THE HOMELESS at Clubhouse Restaurant is over! Please direction discussion over to the:
EVENT REVIEW THREAD Bad karma to those of you who said they would come out and didn't and buckets of good stuff to those and the unexpected people that did. Veni, Lawrence, Connie, Ryan, Carrie and their friends.. Hell... even Nabs made a cameo appearance to grace us with his sandwich labeling skillz! The crew made 300 sandwiches in record time and we headed out to hand them out before the forecast snow came. I am guilty of thinking they are all junkies with no hope for a better future but no one needs to fight the sting of Old Man Winters touch. It was really cold out there and I felt the chill even though I had layers of technical outerwear on. I do not envy those who have to try and make it through tonight, or any other winter night, without warm shelter. To be acknowledged by those who appreciated the handout brought a smile to my face and I hoped that we gave them a bit more strength to make it through the night. Thanks again to everyone that helped with the event this year and I hope to see you all again at the next one. - Winston |
