Dooms Nite 2006
Huge lineup outside, people were paying insane amounts for scalped tickets and security was being a pain in the ass.
The setup was great, I flailed like as if I was training for the Olympics and got to see a bunch of underaged girls dressed up in Halloween outfits that had less material than a bikini. What a night! Sorry that I missed the FNK meet as I forgot to bring a watch. :( |

k.... i thought the setup was dope. the sounds was really good in all rooms. i was dressed as fred flintstone for a while untill i got too hot. so i threw my shit in the car and came back to the party. i sat in the bleachers for a while and i saw a seurity vest laying there. so i was kinda cold now from sitting in a beater plus i thought it would be sorta funny to put it on for a bit. i was in the bathroom talking to someone next thing you know like 8 security gaurds come and they are all telling me to stay still and keep my hands down. this one guy twists my arm back and and they all gang around asking me if i thought i was funny and who did i steal the security vest from. i told them i found it in the bleachers and they were blaming me for cutting the sleeves off. they take me to the police and i get escorted outside. they take my pass away. run my license and they start asking me what happened on october 7th. well i was arrested at cheers that night for being too drunk. so it didn't look to good. there was this cop there i swear he was the bad cop from the green mile. he was the biggest dick head ever and him and the head security gaurd decided i couldn't go back in. i tryed to ask them if i could spin and then i'll leave after 4 when im done but they weren't hearing it. ben and mike came out and tried to get me back in but the lead security gaurd was not going to go for it. so that was that. ya i know it was stupid to put the vest on but really i didn't think it would cause such an uproar. they said i stole it and cut the sleevs off. i didn't have anything to cut it with... basically they just would not listen to anything i said. i waore the vest for like 2 minutes tops. i was guilty till proven innocent and there was no way for me to help myself cuz you should of seen how angry they all were at me for wearing this thing. cops were talking about arresting me for impersonating a figure of authority. ya i wish i could go back and change what happened cuz it really was important to me to get the chance to spin at dooms night. but hey shit doesn't alaways work out and it doesn't help when you make stupid decisions. so thats my story.... i slept in my car till i sobered up enough to drive home and here i am. really upset and i feel like an idiot.

Wow...this party was terrible. All that hype for nothing. Not saying it was Solids fault but ya know... Set-up was nice...too bad the tables were fucked up. All the headliners were fucking terrible except Sean Tyas...who was good but I felt bad for him with the vibe that party was giving off..Everyone looked like zombies and majority of the people were there because they "heard dooms night was a cool rave event, and hey, they've never popped e before so why not go and try it out for shits and giggles." OH and then B-Funk gets kicked out at 1 am because he found a security shirt and was wearing it..."apparently he STOLE it from a security guard". They treated him like a fucking criminal and were so rude to him, it was disgusting, especially since he happens to be a very nice guy...He didnt get too spin his set which many people were eager to see...It would be quite sad if this affected his bookings with solid.
And to the pple that were fucking in the main room right by the vip entrance...lol DIRRTY... In closing this party was shitty...diarreah shitty and anyone that paid more then 60 dollars got ripped right off. |

^ I'm sorry that happened to you, man, that's really rough, and as to making a 'stupid choice', we've all been there so don't beat yourself up about it.
The party was pretty good overall. Presentation wise the setup was something I had not seen done in the mainroom in pne before so that was cool. Ben Shir warmed things up nicely before Eddie Halliwell came on decks to dish out some serious tech trance. While I've heard him play the large majority of the tracks in previous mixes, there's still something appealing to watching him up close scratching live to trance, lol. Scot Project tore things up nicely and dropped several of my all time fav's. I did not see alot of Sean Tyas as Greg C graciously invited me to tag with him and boy what fun that was! I havn't played bwomp bwomp garage in YEARS. Thanks Big C! -Alje |

Meh, comparing to what happened in Edmonton the same night, I think Vancouver had a REAL GOOD party. Sucks to hear that their massive had to get shut down.
I dont know what kinda cracker jacks youve been eating Alisha but I thought Eddie Halliwell did a fucking wicked job... especially when he did that take me away mix into that ecraig track, fucking jeezus, eddie, me, jimmy, eddies bro, the crowd, just went offfffffff. Never seen such skills in my life.. last time he was in town he didnt play that well... but now... he was crowd surfing... WHO CROWD SURFS at raves... EDDIE DOES! bwahah hes not a dj... hes a performer... all respect gained yet again. Scot Project did fine, he didnt play the tunes I was expecting... he was holding back from the looks of it, aparently he played the new remix he did for the Shy Bros, sounded good from what I caught of it. Sean Tyas however brought some energy to the room with trance... thank god.... kinda reminded me of the Picotto and Blank & Jones scenario. People got bored of the techno.. and were soo glad to have their trance back. Setup was big, Lights were hella impressive, the stage setup was well done. But needed more deco to give it that DOOMSNIGHT feel... The sound sounded REALLY compressed, either too much high, or too little bass... or just a mess of compressed basskicks. Ive heard that place way louder than that. But with all that hype for 150$+ a ticket...i was kinda expecting a set of decks on a ufo flying over the crowd... :D Now its time for Freeze...seeya all there! Hey, B-Funk buddy... don't worry about it dude. I've seen you spin before and you always throw down some phat beats. I wouldn't beat myself up for something like this. Aight man? Take it easy, life moves on... you will definitely get another chance to spin if you keep at it - you know what I mean.
If it helps - do a mental recap of the whole situation but picture it in black and white, slow the environment down, and add some classical music into the picture. That way you will be looking at yourself and what happened in an old fashioned movie way and it will show you how what happened was nothing serious. Last edited by FireWire; Oct 29, 06 at 01:30 PM. |

What a weekend! Freak Night Friday, two hours of sleep Sat. afternoon and then back at it for Dooms Night. Just got back into Ktown right now and haven't slept yet, in other words, I'm a mess. Anyways, I'll probably post my thoughts later on and maybe start a thread titled Freak vs Dooms, just curious to see the reaction from others who may have gone to both like me. But for now, I need some sleep!

had an awesome time last night
thanks muchly to the solid crew for having me out and congrats on a wicked show :) meat katie layed it down.. absolutely teh sickness.. danced so hard i was sooo tired and had to try and nap during laidback luke but the tunes were so good i was kinda half raving in my sleep oh my one issue with the evening with daylight savings something went screwy on the third stage.. apparently someone played through daylight savings and took the extra hour (but the rest of the party never changed the clocks back) so when what i thought was 6:30 rolled around to go play my set thomas mezey just got on because people had gotten bumped and i guess was told that it was 5:30 we landed up splitting my timeslot.. so to the dj that extended your set and extra hour cause of dls.. a big boo to you lol :p anyway, some wicked costumes (although not as many people dressed up as i had hoped) twas good seeing everyone last night :) oh yeah... pix0rs up!
