intrepidsam is an unknown quantity at this point
Horrible, horrible show

This show sucked hard!! I travelled 7 hours to get to this show and spent about $600 on the trip. All of you who missed it only missed wasting a bunch of money. Go see George at the Fillmore or another good venue. The sound was a freaking assault, you couldn't hear anything. The trumpet player obviously couldn't hear himself because he was terrible. The club was a total dive. The show didn't sell out and people were leaving after less than an hour. Very unfunky crowd. People wanted to get into it, but struggled to find a groove (because there wasn't one). George was late and the band was lifeless and misguided without him. I bought the more expensive tickets ($63 instead of $53) and got nothing for the higher price. A total money grab, I guess. I have never walked out of a show before, but I didn't last much more than an hour at this one. I saw George at the Commodore in 2002 and that was a great party! Too bad Blackbird and Silverwaters didn't get a better venue for this show--George deserved much better treatment!! I'll go see George again, but I'll be very picky about the venue. A band like that needs good sound. The only way you could have enjoyed this show was to be extremely wasted. sNyx: what were you ON?!?!

I love reading those reviews. They're usually spot on.
plush is a terrible venue. The sound is decent, maybe not for a band.. but for electronica induced beats.

Obviously you had put an extremely high bid on your enjoyment. Personally I was on everything I could get my hands on, uppers, downers, screamers, laughers. Okay I lied not everything. I enjoyed the show, as did everyone I spoke with.

Most of intrepidsam's complaints are valid. I'd add to his my personal complaint that no-one on stage could really sing. Not even the girl, who you'd usually expect to have great pipes.

I knew I was rolling the dice when I fronted for this expensive ticket, and this particular gamble came up a bit short. On the plus side, "Flashlight" was a highlight, and I got to see some nutty costumes.

On the REAL plus side... me and cubed bailed and went to see Lyrics Born rock Richards on Richards.

And I was reminded what a live show is *supposed* to be like. Top level sound quality, musicians with energy and vitality, singers who can actually belt it out, and a showman in his absolute element.

I don't want to rag on G.C. particularly.. he's an innovator, responsible for some awesome music and a legend in his own right. All I know is which show had me jumping up and down, dancing my ass off, and hollering literally at the top of my lungs. And it wasn't at Plush.

Out.
