thanks for bringing him out spectrum. This is my 2nd time seeing him spin. With a 3 hour set though, you should have put him on at 11 and had someone else finish.

Republic was horrible though. I don't think i'll be going back.

#1, they forced everyone to wait outside for no reason. Excuse was because they had to scan everyones ID. Lies.

#2, they purposely caused a line to go upstairs to make it seem like inside was busier than it was.

Bullshit IMHO. I was pissed at that and the chochy people in the club who had no idea who ?uest even was....so i left.

Nice tribute to james brown from ?uest, i wish i was in a better mood so i could have stayed longer. While you're at it, tell flipout to stay off the mic. He's a shitty hype man.

You've got some good DJs for that night on wednesday. As long as they arn't forced to play top 40 hip-pop there should be some good music going on.

i did monitor the influx about 2/3 of the night, and personally did not see any hold ups other than allowing a comfortable amount of people in each time, to get processed by i.d scan, get tic torn, buy a tic, or get name checked off of g-list, but i cant speak on the other 1/3 of the time so i will definitely investigate

that said, do take the following into account:

all advance tickets were sold out and there was only a limited amount of doorsales, so holding the line would make zero sense especially when the club wants you inside buying liquor

so i'm guessing a doorgirl washroom break or something may be the actual reason


re: #2 youre way off there

our wonderful city hall has deemed republic 2 clubs in one, and upstairs has a capacity of about 150 - hence the line-up (refer to flyer, above the logos)

they advised republic of this after they sunk millions in renovations

this is one of many reasons we all need to vote at election time to make this city better

among others who waited to get upstairs, kemo from the rascalz, j-swing, etc - not defending it, but it was the law





as for the rest

we have no control over what the people who come to our events look or act like - we welcome all races, religions, and it doesnt matter how many buttons on your shirt are fastened - we welcome all
and we wont ever deny entry based on "look"

this is a free night, and as long as enough of you and your friends, and like-minded people support it i.e people actually there for the music, the others should not be an issue.

this will not be a top 40 night (see format below - strictly good shit!)

re: 11:40 start time, that was based on his late flight from philly (there are no directs, so that was a 9 hour travel day), immigration processing and his desire to quick rest and have a meal before he took the decks

he had people dancing til 3:20 am, so he accomodated both the early crowd and the late crowd best he could

as well, questlove asked for flip to m.c, and loved flips mic work. sorry if you didnt

appreciate the feedback! hope to eventually see you back

I'll be back, too much talent to miss. I was just disapointed and vented. Thanks for explaination.
