the following is a bad review:
what a waste of money that was. If you're bringing out a headliner and charging $21. Please make sure you bring him out closer to the day of. I was told by mc i dontknowhathisnameis that goldie is on the way. after spending $100 on drinks. He was supposed to be on at 12:30, its 1:18, i heard the message.. 10 minutes ago. It'll probably be a 45 minute show. Of music i've already downloaded. Music stops at 3 and $21 is flushed away. I could've heard the same stuff, and spent $5.00 at the met. Its good that everyone backed out. other than that.. fantastic sound, big ups to the sound guys and the bass bins and fabulos tunes. But, i guess i'll never see goldie live. I hope the zinc show on the 28th of june will be a smidge more organized. |

goldie was there, he showed up at 1:55 and played until 3:40....for all those who left, you either got a refund at the door, or else i have your email and i will refund your money or work something else out ( guest list to artificial intelligence AND zinc perhaps)
you know, i've been doing this for a long time, 8 years now of doing shows, and we've pretty much always delivered. i'm sorry that this one didn't work out the way it should. his flights got fucked up, what his agent booked for him was not the best thing they could have done. it wasn't his fault, and it wasn't my fault either, but i'm willling to take the hit for it. we work hard to give you shows, for very little reward lately, but we do it because we love the music. i'm losing some serious coin on this show, but i will find a solution for everyone who came down, paid and left and was disappointed..... |

I just feel like I payed 20 bucks for nothing. I guess theres no chance in doing another show with him? in the next week?
He can play for 2 hours all he wants, doesnt make a difference if theres 3 people listening I guess automatic? has been doin shows for 8 years? :o Last edited by ossyjova; Mar 14, 07 at 11:19 AM. |

^ it's more the fact that he was 2 hours late (due to circumstances beyond anyone's control).
Anyway, in the 5 or so years I've been attending Automatic events on the regular, this is the first time anything like this has happened. Shit happens - flights get delayed - it's not the fault of the promoter or the artist. Those that want their money back will get it. Those that managed to gut it out saw a killer set (seriously, I only caught 45 minutes of it and that's the best set I've ever seen Goldie play in the 3 or 4 times I've seen him). I feel bad for auto - if the cancellation happened the day before, people would have bitched and tickets would have been refunded, but at least they wouldn't have had to pay the dj fee and probably would have gotten their deposit back... for the sake of the vancouver drum & bass economy,
it would a good idea if in lieu of $, registered refund seekers accepted guestlist to a.i/zinc so that automatic can minimize last nights loss - will help auto continue pumping $ into these big events that would not happen without a supportive, sustainable scene 8 years is no fucking joke! |

Thanks to everyone that stuck it out to hear Goldie. The situation was out of ours & Goldies control. He had a insane day of travel. Got left by his connection flight in LAX, to have to get another flight that too was late arriving into YVR.
We sincerely apologize to anyone that didn't have a chance to stick around and hear him. He played a fantastic set considering he was up for over 24 hours at that point. Much respect to Dabbler and Bri (B Traits). You guys did a great job. Props to the MCs, Myster E & Ryu. If I took your e-mail at the front door, you will get an e-mail from Auto with details of getting your $ back. -s |
