USC5 *seattle* Review
WOWee! never seen so many lasers in my life at a show. The dj lineup was sick! The overall party was allright. Not many dancers but there's a vibe though. *wait* actually, there were LOTS of crazy BREAKERS and they seem to like playing with lights (ie. glowsticks). It's like a light show down there *lol* when those ppl dance. But ya, It seems more like a concert than a rave down there. Just curious - who else went? :D:

Warning! This is LONG! Honda review near the bottom.
My first Seattle party and it won't be my last.
Erica said most of the stuff already, so I'll just fill in the F-K crew's adventure... Alex, Cecilia, Jackie and I left Vancouver at 11pm to head down to the party. We past customs and bomb down there as fast as we could. We stop in Everett at arounf 1:30am at a Denny's to get a caffinne jolt and it was like we went back in time or that Elvis decorated the place. Just some screwed up colour patterns they used, and the servers were totally sketched out or something. We eat, and go to Seattle and try and find a place to stay. We enter Seattle and the first thing we see is a streetfight! Three cars were stopped and a bunch of guys and girls were going at it in the middle of the street. What an intro to US nightlife eh! I wish Alex had his camera to videotape that action. We call Erica and found out how much she paid for a room and decided to stay outside city limits to save a couple of bucks (or on Canadian terms a few hundred bucks) on the room charges. Well the search started at 2:00am and we started heading south out of Seattle. We find this one place that looked OK and Alex and I go in. First I notice that there are video cameras everywhere. NOT a good sign if you want to sneak people in. I tell the guy we need a room for two people, obviously Alex and I. I get the key and look in the room... what do I see? I fucking SINGLE queen size bed. I don't know how things work in Seattle, but if two guys wanted one room I would expect TWO beds. I like Alex and he does look good in the F-K hoodie but that's about it. I go ask for my money back and the guy starts to haggle to have us stay. What a goof! Why not give us the lower rate to begin with? Anyway, we leave and try to find out way back to the highway. As we drive around we see three homies decked out in their checkered shirts and bandana's hovering on a street corner and a bunch of motels with burnt out neon signs. We decide to try and head north and see what happens. We drive east, west, north and south all over the place looking for a fookin Holiday Inn or something. Can't find shit! Luckily Cecilia's cell works in the US and I had my Entertainment book with me. She calls some places and gets the rates beforehand so we don't waste anymore time. So I pull over into this church parking lot at about 3:30am and Alex and I start doing some KKK lookalike modelling in out F-K hoodies. While all this is going down, this girl pulls into the parking lot and asks us for directions! American's are fucking stupid! You see a bunch of people with BC plates hanging out in a parking lot looking like KKK members and you as a single female go ask them for directions? I don't think she was even high! We take some pics and we head off. As we start heading to our final destination, we clue in that the directions we are given are all wrong. So we pull over and go to a gas station to buy a map. I find out they sold beer and asked the guy to get some out of the locked cooler for me. He asks 'Do you know what time it is?' and I'm thinking what the fuck does that have to do with whether or not I can get beer? So before I tell him off I look at my watch and see that it's 4am. OK. Maybe it's a bit late to sell beer. So we get the map and find out that the directions we were given are completely wrong and we were heading in the wrong direction. We backtrack and finally get to our hotel the Days Inn. Now once we get there, Cecilia tells me that they said 'The hotel is a 1/4 mile from downtown' I think the desk clerk was completely fried. Take the '/' out of the 1/4 and that was more like it. 14 miles from downtown Seattle! Oh well. THat's only 10 minutes by car. So now it's 4:30am and we FINALLY get some sleep. BTW. Alex sleeps weird. I'll post some pics once I finish the roll. The next day we get ready to meet Erica and Dave, shop a bit and get ready for the party. Erica was meeting us at the Space Needle so we head off. Seattle's streets are REALLY weird, you can make a left on three corners, but at the fourth you can only go straight. WTF?!?? So I finally find parking and we head off. ALex decides he has a death wish and trys to jaywalk across 6 lanes of traffic and gets told off by this guy in a truck! LOL! So what does Alex do? He yells at the three of us to join him! Anyway, we pick up Erica and Dave and I take them to the REI for lunch. This place is like Mountain Equipment Co-op, but three times as big. For example, I didn't know there were 10 different type of kayaks, and all of them were on display! We eat and head off to try and get a ticket for USC for Dave. The tickets were sold out so we leave. Erica and Dave walk to the venue and we would try to meet up with them later. The F-K crew head back and get into our gear and head on out. Once we get there you get an idea of just how big this Stadium Exhibition Center really is from the outside. It is BIG! The lineup goes around the block and there were a couple of thousand partykids lined up. One thing about the line up was that everyone was friendly. No pushing, no attitudes but just fun. You think a Plaza lineup is big, I don't think you could put all these people into the covered area outside of Plaza. The doors were supposed to open at 8pm and didn't. The line finally starts moving at 8:30pm and went pretty fast, then I see the 'no item' list they posted on the gates... my problem? No gloves. I felt sick! There is no way I was going to let them confiscate my gloves or line up again. So I pray and we see what happens. Seattle partykids are funny. They see that no liquids, open smokes/gum/candy are permitted, so they give them away! LOL! Cigarettes were flying for free all over the place! I finally get to security and plead my case and I get my gloves in. That was surprise #1, surprise #2 was when I walked past the front door and look inside. When I said that the place looked big from the outside that is an understatement. Inside the place is massive! The main room is easily bigger than the Colesium and then there are 5 other areas! HOLY SHIT! This place was BIG! They had bouncy castles to play on, a rock wall to climb on, rides, BMX dirt track, skateboard ramps and 4 music stages. The nice thing about the setup is that no music from one room bled into the other. Each stage was setup a bit different from the next. IMO, the trance stage was the best visual setup. They didn't hold back on the lasers on that stage. House setup was #2, Jungle #3 and Breaks/Hip-Hop #4 (looked more like a concert stage). Lots of people in neat costumes and a great vibe all around. Once thing I found weird is that not too many people dance. If you go off, people would back off and give you space and watch. I didn't mind this at all, but when I looked around it's weird to see everyone watching you rather than seeing a bunch of poeple going off as hard as you are. Anyway, in the Trance room they had this live set by 'Medicine Drum' and it was GREAT. I saw that drummer at Supersweet during DJ Cher's set and this trio blew him away. A live singer, violinist and drummer going at it with a trance track. Just spooky! Once of the best sets that night. I was going off bigtime when Jackie grabs me and says Honda is on stage now. From what Alex tells me this guy should be able to walk on water. So we get to the front of the stage and wait for Alex to pass of the shirt. The tracks that were going down weren't anything special, so I thought this can't be the right guy, it must be the tail end of the other set or something must be wrong. Everyone else is liking the music so it must be me right? Anyway, Alex gets on stage and gives Honda the T-Shirt. I see him look at it and put it away. Like WTF!??!? So I wait and see what happens. NOTHING! I'm no DJ, but the 4, yes 4!, tracks he laid down were nothing special at all! I've heard washing machines that wounded better than the crap he was throwing down. So he lays down 4 tracks and leaves the stage for these rappers. I try for next 30 minutes to get his attention so I can try and talk to him to see if we could get a picture of him in the T-shirt. Now if you have seen them, my gloves are pretty bright, and when I wave/point at you I'm sure you can see me. I'm sure he saw me at least once, if not looking directly at me and does NOTHING! I gave up on him. I was flying 30 minutes ago and I've never gone from so hyped to so down in such a short time. Honda is a 'Ho' in my books, I'm sticking to domestic products from now on. I head back to the Trance stage and Juno Reactor (5 guys dressed in tribal outfits) is playing live. Took me a while to get back into it but they were fantastic! There is nothing like a group playing live trance IMO. TAJ and Christopher Lawrence was really good and Venus wasn't bad for a local (40 second buildups are TOO long my dear!). In the end tha lights come on and we meet up with Alex, Cecila, Dave and Erica whom all I didn't see much of the entire night. To wrap it up, the party was good, the venue was incredible and the great vibe is all what it was about. Bottom line is this. I have to stop dancing for 6 out of 7 hours, my body HURTS! But I can't help it if the music is THAT good. Shouts to: Agroculture: Dave, I have to follow you around more often. Your adventures are soooooo sweet! Erica: Missed you for most of the night. When I saw your friend and sent him into space I thought that was Alex (I was thinking where the hell did he get clothes to change into?) until I see Alex at the end of the night an clue into this. We'll party again soon for sure. Cecilia: Thank god one of us has a head on our shoulders. Thanks for being the co-pilot as we would be lost otherwise... or maybe in Portland. Alex: Nice to know you liked the ride I put you on. Can't wait to see the pictures on the big screen. Next party for the gloves has to be on the island.
