Overheard police saying they were looking for a native guy from Campbell River who had been seen in the area. It got shut down at about 3.30am i think. But whatever, i had a great time, met a few people off F&K and saw K-pryde play which is what i went there for.
Hats off to all involved for another great night. See you all at Clash 6! |

well, here goes.... what i heard from the police is that "native male" from campbell river was stabbed in the vicinity, and they suspected that he had either come from or was going to clash (which i highly doubt). they also raised the possibility that his assailant a "hippy looking guy with dreadlocks" was inside. seeing as there was not even a hint of bad vibes or violence, i think they used it as an excuse to shut us down, and they weren't too happy about some beer bottles and stuff kicking around the dj booth, although we weren't selling any alcohol. personally i think that when the stabbing happened they all pulled up at the gas station on the corner, from where you could hear the party, and decided to come sniff around, and ultimately decided to shut us down.
sorry too all who were hoping for a few more hours of clash, we'll try and make it up to you sometimes, and sorry to Skool of Thought, who was about to hit it in the main room just as the cops arrived. big ups to: Priceless (that man has saved our ass more than anyone else we know) for the killer sound in the main room, the loudest sound system we've ever had at our parties, excessive, but oh well... big up to Royal Platoon and Double A for the dancehall steez and the marathon sessions upstairs, big up to the Underwear Farmers, big ups to the DJs who played, and those who didn't get a chance to make it on (k-pryde rockin' the foo fighters oh yeah!) and big ups to everyone who cam out and supported..... peace jay |

I'm only pissed cus I'd only been there about 15 minutes, tops when that whole like PLATOON of fucking pigs poured in. Like shit, get that flashlight out of my face dammit!!!!!
Until then I enjoyed myself, and I didn't even mind the money I paid, but if you saw the places we ended up going in out of desperate lack of amusement and simple inability to drive safely.......you would have given me double it back just for the ordeal. And ther tease of such a good vibe followed by...well....some seriously wierd, sketchy, skeezy afterhours.... AGH. Keep it up, Jay, seriously....Clash 6 better be soon, I didn't get my proper dose this time. ~jess |

Sure it bothers me that they did decide to shut down the party, but it also bothers me when ppl give cops a bad rep, when they don't desearve it. |

I hope you weren't referring to me giving cops a bad rep.
I don't think I said anything out of line. I was just noting the large number of them there seemed to be. Maybe I'm just crazy but there must have been at least 6 to 8 of them in there at one point. (I think I counted 5 cars, including the one at Chevron?) And I was standing near the door, so they ALL walked by me, shining their flashlights on me along the way. I didn't say they were unreasonable, I was just bummed at a busted party. |

if it had only been two cops on patrol coming by we wouldn't have been busted, they usually just walk through and leave because it's too much effort to drag an additional 5 or 6 cops from elsewheres to shut a party down, and they don't do that unless they don't like what they see. our bad luck was that there were already about 5 cars in the area when they came down due to an unrelated incident, so they had the manpower to shut us down right there, so they did. all in all they were very polite and well behaved, i'm smart enough to know that arguing with police officers is a losing battle, and other than one cop trying to tell us that "having alcohol behind the dj booth at a "rave" is a big no-no" (yeah right buddy, like that was a rave) i didn't even get the standard cop lecture about the dangers amd evils of throwing an illegal party, nor did i get sweated about a permit, nor did i get the threat of a follow up....all in all very reasonable and well behaved. treat cops with respect people, always, it's worth your while.
