Mauro Picotto @ Sonar

Whadda wiked nite it was!! It's gone off! The atmosphere was absolutely amazing! We were 'avin it large! The tunes were banging! I'm still a bit shaken and my ears are buzzing. I could feel the bass literally with my guts. A mixture of funky techno/tech-house/techno was totally suitable for the club. Mauro is such a nice fellow he just couldn't resist signing the autographs!! I got my The Others CD signed and took a shit load of pictures! The mixing was so seamless it was hard to tell when the new track was on...

The pictures from last nite are up!

That was exactly what I needed! Hard techno that blew my mind track after track.

Thick relentless basslines, good vibe, good lighting, drinks were flowing, dancing hard, and chilling with close friends. Couldn't ask for a better club night. Many thanks to the people who brought such amazing and original talent to Vancouver.

Good to see so many familiar faces... everyone I talked to seemed to be having a great night.

Shaun - Good seein ya as always, it must have been a nice change to not have to worry about driving.

Michelle - The Vodka and red-bull rapist!!! haha dope chillin with ya. Can I still borrow that train you were telling me about?
I just have to figure out how to install the "im sorry" flag.

Mike - Glad you made it out after all... I'll give you a ring soon.

Ernie - Nice to finally hit a club with you buddy, many more to come for sure.

Christine - Nice talkin to ya, it had been way too long since the last time I saw you. You're too polite, lol... next time I get started on a drunken rant to tell me to shut up. Thanks very much for the ticket and the cd. Your mix makes me :c-tard: .

Bret - Also been too long since the last time I saw you. I gotta get my ass down to tribeca next thursday.

Neal - What-up? I Still can't believe Mauro Picotto was your first club night. I doubt you'll find very many that compete with that.

Peter - Didn't really see you much throughout the night. Where were you hiding? That pic you showed me was looking nice.

Jay - I'm glad the ticket situation worked out for you. Bring your drums over soon, let's make some noise!

Greg - Good talking to you again... are you still willing to part with the track we were talking about?

Zhaid - Take it easy man, come round and spin sometime soon.

Dawn - Good to see ya again. Hope you had a good night.

Good times. Sorry if I forgot people, my brain is still a little battered.

peace.

I personally thought Picotto was alright...I expected him to play stuff like uplifting trance or hardtrance or something along those lines and not tech-house/trance...But aside from that I had a pretty good time...Went down with good friends and met some great people! :kimmie:

anyways... sounds like it was a wicked show. glad sonar is actually capable of having quality, consistent sound. fuck the commodore.

k I admit I'm not a big Picotto tune spotter but that's what I recognized out of the whole one and a half mix?? :047: :047: lol

Cave - 'Ingoma'
Frank Biazzi - 'Turbulence'
Gabry Fasano - 'Catapulta'
Umek - 'Benozal (Gabry Fasano Remix)' (this caused the crowd to go into a frenzy!!

this is a little off topic but haveing picotto in town made me think how dope it would be if a promoter could bring Signum . Ive always really really wanted to see them and have been let down a few times in the past. I think it would be a wicked show and a sure thing for ticket sales. If any of you promoters out there could make it happen that would be awesome!!!

Picotto doesn't spin trance... he USED too, but not anymore...

And there's a 1% chance that he'll ever agree to doing a rave, unless your name is ID&T or GATECRASHER. Sorry kids.

thanks tips, but Picotto's style of music past or present has nothing to do with with what i say in my post. Im actually talking about haveing them here performing cause they have the same amazing level of musical talent as Picotto for writing electronica.

when i heard Picotto was comming I thought of signum would also be anouther awesome tallent to bring as a fresh act to a venue in vancouver. Ive heard from a few places that theyre live sets are absolutely mind blowing. They have made what are now classic tracks in the same time frame as Picotto made his. Are probably one of the most tallent electronic music producers in the world with a list of dozens of widely distributed records to theyre credit.I dont see why there would be little chance of them comming if theres a well known and respected production company involved thats willing to pay the big bucks artists of that kind of level ask.

Fuck haveing them at a rave commidor would be perfect.

Signum is a great producer but certainly not the best, there's far better producers are out to choose from like:
Darren Tate, Sharpside, Tomcraft, Lange, 4 strings, Rank 1 etc
