Here is Judge Jules Post about the night!
Sam and I only got four hours sleep before departing Portland for Calgary in Canada, involving two flights with a transit stop in Vancouver. At Vancouver airport we had a very thorough Customs examination, nearly causing us to miss our connection. The minute you mention the word "Dj" on your immigration form the authorities assume you're a narcotics trafficker on an active service mission. The closest thing they managed to find were Echinechia capsules, essential for staving off the colds that days of air travel, jet lag and sleep deprivation bring on. Our examination over, we raced to our Calgary flight as the last passengers to board."
"A line-up featuring both Lisa Lashes and myself on a Sunday night was clearly going to attract a crowd, and the venue "Whiskey" was packed for the double-header. Canadian clubbers dress much more like their British counterparts than those I experienced on the US leg of the tour, so the night felt like a home-from-home. The atmosphere was mind-blowing from the moment I entered the club, and I couldn't wait to throw the first track on the turntable. Unfortunately the monitor speakers, one turntable and a Cd mixer broke simultaneously during my first track, and I had to make a rapid retreat. It's virtually impossible to mix in a large club without monitors- I would have made an embarrassment of myself, so it was better to wait til the sound guy had rectified the problem, which took nearly 40 minutes. The incident shortened my set to 90 minutes, but the crowd's ballistic screaming and shouting made up for the frustration of waiting for the monitors to be fixed. It's over 2 years since my previous visit to Calgary. I won't leave it so long next time."
